A Debate (ed. with Jennifer Kling, 2023); and Transformative Pacifism (2018). Fiala is a past President of Concerned Philosophers for Peace and former Director of the Ethics Center at Fresno State.

Review :
Fiala (Univ. of Wisconsin, Green Bay) here stakes out his own pluralist (not relativist) position on tolerance in conversation with Margolis, Rawls, M. Walzer, Rorty, and J. Lachs, but he is equally interested in displaying the main relevant insights of Western philosophers from Socrates forward. Because of its coverage, clear language, and relative brevity, the book makes a good introduction to the subject... Readers also get advice from the Stoics on discerning what is outside one's control, as well as from Locke and Rousseau on sincerity, Emerson on self-reliance, James on metaphysical pluralism, Royce on loyalty to the principle of loyalty, Marcel and Sartre on fraternity and generosity, and the Frankfurt School on the "repressive tolerance" of bourgeois society... Recommended" - Choice, S. G. Smith, Millsaps College "Fiala here stakes out his own pluralist (not relativist) position on tolerance in conversation with Margolis, Rawls, M. Walzer, Rorty, and J. Summing Up: Recommended."  'Fiala has made an important contribution to our understanding of the deep and varied history of the moral ideal of tolerance.' "Fiala does an admirable job of demonstrating the deep roots of tolerance in the Western intellectual tradition and its compatibility with a number of extremely different approaches to philosophy. This is a welcome contribution to the discussion of the source of the ideal of tolerance, a discussion which has often made it seem as if tolerance is a peculiarly modern virtue, which came to the fore only in the wake of the disastrous religious wars of the sixteenth century."- Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews, March 9, 2006
