About the Book

A beautifully produced hardback featuring a unique collection of extraordinary, whimsical and sometimes bizarre but true stories. Many of the best and most intriguing stories, some of which date back to the early 19th Century, have been discovered in long-forgotten books and magazines, but all reflect our enduring passion for man's feline friend. Stories include everything from the cat that saved its canary friend by seizing the canary in its mouth, to the cat that nursed a 'missing' leveret, to the sagacity of Miss P's adopted feline friend who foiled a burglary and last but not least, Miss Deb's (the family cat) who knocks on the door for prompt attention became as well known to the servant as that of any other member of the family, and, no doubt to Miss Deb's great satisfaction, it usually met with prompt attention! AUTHOR: Tom Quinn has written a number of books about the history of the English countryside as well as books on fishing, eccentrics, long walks, railways, early aviation and the First World War. Review :
It's certainly a book that you can either dip in and out of, or as in my case, read cover to cover over a very entertaining and enjoyable couple of days! The book spans 208 pages and features some beautiful illustrations that capture the quirkiness and charm of our feline friends. The one thing that is strikingly obvious with Cat Tales is simply how much the English language has evolved over the last century or so, yet cats through history have remained the same curious, mysterious and fascinating creatures as they are today. Love Cats? Then you can t help but love this book. This delightful book features an incredible selection of stories, drawn from books, newspapers and magazines from all over the world and dating back over 200 years and chronicles our love of our fireside companion, the cat. Hugely entertaining, this book is one that can be dipped into at will and is beautifully illustrated by Nicola L. Robinson. It really is the perfect stocking filler for Christmas and ought to be on everyones wish list. A collection of true short stories surrounding cats from the past two centuries, this is the purrfect read for cat lovers.
