About the Book

The Mini’s long production life saw many model changes, and literally thousands of component changes, making choosing and assessing the correct part for a classic Mini very difficult. This book is the result of years of research, and comprises almost 2000 photos showing these component variations, with captions explaining which Mini model and date each was originally designed for. With no German parts listed, this book is an essential volume for all restorers of classic Minis looking for true authenticity, and an invaluable reference source.

About the Author :
Mark Huthert is a seasoned motor mechanic with a passion for parts. In 1975, his father bought him an accident-damaged Austin Seven 850. A year later, when just 15 years old, he built his first modified 850cc engine. This led to four years of grasstrack racing with three – you guessed it – Minis. With the experience and knowledge picked up from working on his own Austins, and his stint in racing, he took his skills into the auto parts and repair industry, working for a number of garages specialising in different marques.

Auto Express A perfect companion to anyone intent on restoring a Mini to perfection. Practical Classics This is a unique book and one that holds much promise ... The book is recommended for general interest: I found it most interesting but is an absolute must for those endeavouring to fit the correct parts to their car and with luck will prevent incorrect parts being fitted or purchased. To that end, the GBP35 cover price, although seeming expensive for a soft bound book of limited pages, could save the cover price many times over. Buy it. CooperWorld It really is quite a work ... The subtitle of 'Anatomy of the Classic Mini' reveals the special significance of this book: 'The definitive guide to original components and parts interchangeability.' The experience has taught us that a Mini in the hands of its enthusiastic owners remain almost never original. And in the course of the decades, the knowledge of that a specimen looked like when it was virginly rolled off the band faded. But what if the restorers wants to put his four-wheeled friend in exactly this condition? In addition, of course, the parts problem. Does the water pump from the 1964 Cooper S fit the Mayfair for 1984? Or the other way around? Inspired clarity and comprehensive help is provided by this colourfully illustrated work by Austin expert Mark Huthert. He lists model-specific components not only with pictures, explanations and cross-references, but also with the corresponding part numbers - if given at that time. In short, whoever is looking for a truly original Mini or is right in restoring a copy of the Car of the Century correctly will not miss this standard work. - British Classics. It is the most amazing work of research and dedication on the part of author Huthert, covering all the Mini variants between 1959 and 2000. Within the 192 large pages are more than 1800 photos, some showing as-new parts but many others illustrating things like rusty exhaust manifolds. They are mostly very small shots but they serve to illustrate the details he covers and to explain when component variations were introduced. It's a reference source. If you own one of the classic Minis, and particularly if you are restoring one and want to make sure of its period authenticity, it really looks invaluable. – New Zealand Classic Car.
