A useful course, this book presents valuable language exercises and glossary, diverse stories and interesting facts to be used in conjunction with the "Taith Iaith 3" activity book, CD and website to promote the use of the Welsh language among KS3 pupils.

Gwawr Prys-Davies * * * The book Taith Iaith 3 is the third book in this series. It forms part of a language introduction course to be used with second language pupils in Key Stage 3. As well as this book, the course also includes an activity book, a CD and a website with extra resources, worksheets etc. The introductory page is most useful for language tutors and explains the aim of the course and gives a summary of the contents. It is essential to set aside some time to understand how the course works and how the various elements interact, but once this is understood, the programme is fairly straightforward. The book is divided into 5 units with a short grammar unit at the end. The introduction is up-to-date and attractive covering contemporary and relevant topics, such as: 1. Interesting or different? (Discussing hobbies and interests) 2. Good health! (How to look well, keep fit, eat healthily and illness) 3. The environment. (Rubbish, recycling, etc) 4. Travelling. (Holidays and excursions) 5. The news. (How to understand and present Welsh news) The contents would appeal to boys and girls and covers areas across the curriculum. A wide range of grammar is introduced as well as many interesting and comical facts. There are also original cartoon stories and poetry that will appeal to pupils of this age. I certainly welcome these books wholeheartedly. Here we have exciting and appealing resources which are a pleasure to use.
