About the Book

From baby to toddler, Today tenderly celebrates the daily joys and milestones a parent or guardian observes in their growing child. With its universal themes, this charming picture book stylishly captures the warmth, wonder and delightful moments of watching a young one navigate their world with curiosity and love.

About the Author :
Mark Wordsworth is a creative storyteller with a background in Genetics from the University of Leeds and filmmaking from the Northern Film School. He's spent years directing music videos, producing projects for brands like Apple and Adidas, and crafting imaginative experiences across various media. His debut children's picture gift book is his first foray into publishing and reflects his love for storytelling that brings people together. Mark enjoys finding creative ways to connect generations through stories filled with curiosity and heart. Ruby Wright grew up in Dorset and moved to London to study sculpture. She worked in a cafe, made radio programmes and played musical saw in various bands before having children and committing to a career in picture book illustration. In 2024 she was selected for the Bologna Illustrator's Exhibition and shortlisted for the Shirley Hughes Sketchbook award in 2024. Her first book, Animal Crackers was longlisted for the Klaus Flugge prize.

Review :
This "aw"-inspiring British import demonstrates that as a baby grows, so does the love. Repeating the titular word, Wordsworth follows the development of a young tot, beginning as the tiny baby snuggles in a caregiver's arms: "Today you're a little bit bigger. There's more of you to love!" The baby grows older and lies under a mobile, reaching for toys ("Today you're a little bit louder.I love hearing your voice!"). Soon the child is sitting up and grabbing at a most displeased household cat: "Today you're a little bit curiouser. So keen to make friends!" Before we know it, the youngster's an inquisitive toddler, carefully examining a snail in the garden: "Today you're a little bit braver.Never stop exploring!" Breezy text homes in on important milestones-like taking those first independent steps-as well as moments that are just plain sweet and joyful, like a giggly bathtime. Wordsworth folds a little bit of extra love into his words, while Wright's gentle pastels and patterned clothing, blankets, and dotted green landscapes add texture to this warm tale that's ideal for new parents. The adult has tan skin, a slightly darker shade than the baby's. A snuggle-worthy read-aloud.
