Review :
This high-stakes fairy-tale crime mystery drips with pace, danger and plenty of twists. Highly recommended for KS2. What a book! The Big Bad Wolf Murder is a high-octane fairytale-inspired murder mystery filled with twists, danger, and edge-of-your-seat chase scenes. With a pacy plot, an enormously clever premise, and 5* writing from P.G Bell, I was hooked from the very first page. Pawsitively BRILLIANT!!! In this brilliant new story from author P. G. Bell - the follow up to The Beanstalk Murder, one of my favourite reads of 2024 - we are witness to the death of the biggest and baddest of wolf sports stars, Alarick, in a whodunnit that is fast paced, filled with humour and littered with sneaky references to those traditional tales. Huge fun, it also conveys some very serious messages about equality and prejudice and is a read that I gobbled up within 24 hours of its arriving through the door. Parents will relish the clever weaving of classic tales into a fresh narrative, and children will be gripped by the excitement, suspense and daring escapes. Bell lets his imagination take flight as he plunges us into a thrilling, atmospheric and world-building crime romp, illustrated by George Ermos and with all those favourite mystery ingredients... lashings of danger, oodles of intrigue, lots of laugh-out-loud fun, and unexpected twists and turns to keep YOU guessing and the pages turning! A delightful, action-packed adventure. A smorgasbord of whirlwind action, riveting characters, and relatable life lessons in this murder mystery spin on Little Red Riding Hood. This beastly murder mystery was such a fun, paws-itive read! The Big Bad Wolf Murder offers a great twist on the fairytale we all know and love. Mixed with a dash of Zootropolis, the adrenaline-fuelled chases of Alex Rider and a dose of Agatha Christie, The Big Bad Wolf Murder is such an underrated gem that I'll be sharing this far and wide.
