Experience timeless classics like never before in this Grand Type Collector's Edition With clear, easy-to-read formatting, this edition is designed for readers who prefer or require larger text without sacrificing the excitement of the original. Large Print Features: 18-point font: Generously sized text for maximum readability and comfort. Sans-serif font: Clean, modern typeface designed to reduce visual strain. Italics are bolded: Important emphasis is maintained without thin, hard-to-see lettering. Easy-to-read line lengths: Shorter rows of text (under 45 characters per line) make reading smoother and less tiring. Against the rugged backdrop of the Caucasus mountains, the brooding officer Pechorin drifts through love, honor, and fate with a restless and cynical spirit. Each encounter-whether romantic, fateful, or destructive-reveals another facet of his complex character. Through fragmented, shifting narratives, readers piece together the portrait of a Byronic hero, both a product of his society and its sharpest critic. Pechorin's contradictions expose the disillusionment of a generation caught between ideals and harsh realities. First published in 1840, Mikhail Lermontov's A Hero of Our Time stands as one of the earliest landmarks of Russian literature and a pioneering work of the psychological novel. Its focus on an anti-hero struggling with alienation and identity anticipated the existential and introspective themes that would later define Russian classics. With its innovative structure and probing character study, the novel helped shape modern literature and continues to resonate with readers drawn to flawed yet fascinating protagonists.

About the Author :
Mikhail Lermontov, born in 1814 in Moscow, is celebrated as one of Russia's most significant Romantic poets and writers. His upbringing was marked by tragedy and familial strife, particularly after the death of his mother when he was just three years old. Raised by his strict and controlling grandmother, Lermontov's early years were shaped by loneliness and introspection, which later fueled his creative work. His experiences, including his travels to the Caucasus, left a lasting imprint on his poetry, where themes of nature, fate, and human struggle are prominent.Lermontov's literary career took off with his poignant and often satirical poetry, which earned him both admiration and notoriety. His famous poem Death of the Poet, written in response to the death of Alexander Pushkin, brought him immediate fame but also led to his first exile to the Caucasus due to its politically charged content. This exile, however, became a period of immense creativity for Lermontov, leading to the creation of his most famous work, A Hero of Our Time. This novel, often considered the first major Russian psychological novel, delved into the complexities of the human soul and the existential crises of its protagonist, Pechorin.Despite his growing success, Lermontov's life was cut short at the age of 26 when he was killed in a duel in 1841. His death marked the loss of one of Russia's most promising literary talents, but his legacy endured.
