Control sensors, peripherals, cameras, and GPIO interfaces for practical embedded projects
Develop intelligent IoT apps using OpenCV, edge ML, MQTT, and AI agents
Book DescriptionRaspberry Pi has grown from an affordable educational computer into a flexible platform for embedded development, IoT systems, computer vision, and edge AI. This book shows you how to use Raspberry Pi to build practical, intelligent, and cloud-connected applications from the ground up.
Starting with Raspberry Pi hardware and embedded system fundamentals, you will learn how Raspberry Pi OS and Linux support real-world embedded development. You will set up and configure the system, work with boot and remote access options, and develop applications using C/C++ and Python. The book then moves into hands-on hardware interaction, showing how to control GPIO pins, sensors, peripherals, and cameras for practical embedded projects.
As you progress, you will explore machine vision with OpenCV, deploy edge-side machine learning models using LiteRT, and connect Raspberry Pi applications to the cloud using MQTT. The final project brings these skills together in an intelligent flower monitoring system that combines sensors, image capture, IoT communication, cloud control, and an AI-agent workflow.
By the end of this book, you will be able to design, build, and extend Raspberry Pi-based embedded IoT systems that combine hardware control, Linux programming, edge intelligence, and cloud integration. What you will learn
