About the Book
Ditch the portal. Build AI agents that automate operations, generate infrastructure, and give developers true self-service.
Key Features
End-to-end coverage from AI-enhanced developer portals to fully autonomous platform operations
Master agentic AI patterns, including autonomous operations, self-healing, and human-in-the-loop governance
Generate infrastructure-as-code and automate CI/CD pipelines through conversational AI interfaces
Book DescriptionPlatform engineers today face a growing challenge; developer platforms must scale faster than teams can maintain them. This book gives you a clear, practical path to solving this, showing how to embed GenAI, RAG, MCP, and autonomous agents into the platforms your developers depend on every day.
Written by three AWS specialists and platform engineering practitioners, including contributors to KubeCon, re:Invent, and PlatformCon, this book bridges the gap between AI theory and real-world platform implementation. Each chapter builds on the last, taking you from foundational concepts through to advanced agentic patterns and production-ready governance.
You will learn how to build conversational interfaces that let developers generate infrastructure-as-code in plain language, implement RAG systems grounded in your organization's own knowledge, and deploy autonomous agents that self-heal, triage incidents, and onboard developers without manual intervention. Crucially, you will also learn how to keep humans in the loop, governing AI behavior with guardrails, identity controls, and compliance frameworks.
Whether you are modernizing an existing internal developer platform or building one from scratch, this book gives you the architectural patterns, code examples, and case studies to do it with confidence. What you will learn
Integrate GenAI and RAG into internal developer platforms
Build conversational interfaces for infrastructure-as-code generation
Implement AI-powered observability with agentic self-healing
Design and deploy multi-agent systems for autonomous operations
Apply MCP to connect AI tools with organizational knowledge systems
Secure AI-enhanced platforms against prompt injection and identity threats
Govern agentic AI with human-in-the-loop patterns and compliance frameworks
Evaluate build vs. buy decisions for AI platform tooling
Who this book is forThis book is for platform engineers, SREs, DevOps professionals, and cloud architects who want to integrate AI into their internal developer platforms. If you are responsible for building or maintaining internal platforms and want to automate operations, improve developer experience, and introduce intelligent self-service capabilities, this book is for you. Technical leaders driving AI adoption within engineering teams will also find valuable strategic guidance. Basic familiarity with cloud computing, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices is assumed.

About the Author :
Tiago is a Principal Solutions Architect at AWS, where he helps companies across Latin America optimize their container and cloud strategies while leading the Containers Tech community across the region. With more than 10 years of experience in technology, he is passionate about GenAI, SaaS, and Platform Engineering. Beyond his role at AWS, he is an active contributor to the cloud-native ecosystem, serving as an organizer of KCD Brazil and other local meetups focused on advancing cloud-native technologies. He has spoken at major industry events including AWS re:Invent, KubeCon, and PlatformCon. He has also contributed to the ecosystem through open-source projects, technical blogs, workshops, and white papers, in addition to being a Platform Engineering Ambassador and CNCF Ambassador. Lucas Soriano Alves Duarte is a WW Principal Solutions Architect for Agentic Transformation at AWS, based in Austin, TX. Lucas drives technical strategy and builds assessment frameworks that help customers modernize legacy systems into intelligent, autonomous platforms. He leads cross-functional initiatives spanning architecture design, automation tooling, and partner enablement. Previously, he spent years supporting ISV customers through AWS Container services across AMER. Lucas is a CNCF Kubestronaut with deep Kubernetes and DevOps experience built across multiple companies in Brazil and the US. Jaime Nagase is a Principal Business Development Manager and regional leader at AWS, where he heads the Application Modernization, Containers, and Serverless domain for Latin America. He is the author of the book Modern Applications Strategy and holds a postgraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Texas. Recognized as a DevOps Ambassador, Jaime is a prominent speaker in the cloud community, having shared his expertise at global and regional stages including AWS re:Invent, AWS Summits, and various Kubernetes Community Days (KCD). At AWS, he orchestrates Go-To-Market strategies that leverage technologies like Amazon EKS, ECS, AWS Lambda, and Event-Driven Architectures, bridging the gap between cutting-edge engineering—including Platform Engineering, GitOps, and AI architectures—and transformative business outcomes across LATAM.
