About the Author :
Stephanie Covert was born in Esalen, at the feet of the gorgeous Big Sur in California, in 1975. Daughter of two academics who traveled often for work - her father a doctor, her mother a psychologist - she is the youngest of 4 children and thus to had to learn from the very earliest years of her life to stand out for herself and fight for attention in a large household. Never deprived of the love of caring and attentive parents, their work requirements forced them though often to stay away from home for extended periods of time, making her rely on her three older siblings for emotional support as the youngest member of the family and then craving all her parents' attention and love once they finally came home. Experiences and lessons that would prove to be invaluable over the years, unconsciously learning from the very beginning about both the importance and potential hazards of addictive emotional relationships. All this experience from a very young age - after a very successful career of studies and as a professional coach level - helped her in her adulthood to recognise, learn and understand emotional patterns and as a keen observer to realise them in herself and her life. Over the years she started mastering and perfecting her understanding of these deep-rooted human feelings and behaviours leading her to unravel the subtle dynamics of Codependency and Empathy - two topics she has dedicated her life to, writing a series of incredibly successful books that helped millions of people around the world to deal with their emotional addictive patterns and relationships issue. She currently lives in Bali, writing and running retreats about her lives' passion and mission, alongside her husband of 20 years and their two kids.
