No matter what you teach, there is a 100 Ideas title for you! The 100 Ideas series offers teachers practical, easy-to-implement strategies and activities for the classroom. Each author is an expert in their field and is passionate about sharing best practice with their peers. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is the guide that schools need to implement and achieve their Climate Action Plans. Linking with the DfE Sustainability Climate Change Strategy, as well as the Eco-Schools' top ten topics and the Let's Go Zero Objectives, this is the essential book for creative activities that schools can use throughout the year to empower children and support teaching and learning of sustainability topics. This book will equip primary teachers with practical ideas and knowledge of resources across a range of environmental topics, including litter, marine life, biodiversity, energy, school grounds and transport. It will cover how schools can reduce their waste, save money and even make money through practical campaigns! With a foreword from Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE.

Review :
The evidence is clear that helping children to take social and environmental action improves their wellbeing, their engagement with learning, and their community. Schools need to equip and empower young people with the tools and mindset to address the environmental challenges facing the world. It is therefore compelling for our schools to involve children in activities that promote environmental awareness and action. I love the way this book is packed full of ideas to help schools to do just that and children can begin from the moment they start school. Each area for action begins with awareness raising so that young people know from the start the environmental challenges we all face. The message of the book is that schools should create a sustainable culture that permeates everything they do. Implementation of the “100 Ideas” will involve everyone taking action. Many teachers will be aware of some of the ideas presented but the book brings a whole range of ideas and opportunities into one easily accessible book with details of where they can get support and help. Implementing the ideas in the book will really change young people's and empower them, engage them and give them hope for their future. Bloomsbury Publishing's new 100 ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is fantastic, and I wish I'd had something like it when I was in Primary School! It is full of the essential steps to becoming an eco-school. It is an awesome guide for greening schools, scouts and guides and school environmental clubs. Edd is the best there is when it comes to making environmental awareness not just educational, but inspiring. His book is the perfect practical resource for teachers looking to bring sustainability into their school community. It won't just leave you with plenty of eco ideas - it'll help you feel like you can actually make a difference on this massive issue. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers is an amazing resource that will hopefully find its way into every classroom in the country. At a time in history when the world is a scary place, and children everywhere are noticing higher levels of anxiety and uncertainty, we know we need to find tools to build their agency in helping create a better world. Through a focus not only on changing their own behaviours, but on how to set up campaigns and become young activists, this book will be incredibly helpful in fighting off the eco-anxiety we know is spreading throughout the education system. If you're looking for a hands-on, real-world guide to help children fall in love with the planet while building critical life skills, this book is for you. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is packed with practical, purposeful actions that any school can take-no matter the size or budget. It's about empowering children to lead, take action, and realise that their ideas can change the world. Every school should have a copy. I absolutely love this amazing book! Having even one idea to make our schools greener is a win-but 100 ideas? That's a game changer! Just imagine how our country and planet could thrive if we put even 10% of Edd's brilliant suggestions into action in our schools, gardens, and communities. I've already started using few in my own garden, and it's been inspiring. How incredible would it be if every child read this book and took action for a greener, brighter future! 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is a perfect guide for educators from all subject areas to get students thinking critically about environmental topics. Educators will know that this is written by an educator who truly understands climate pedagogy in the classroom. Easy to navigate, this is a great start for any educator, anywhere. This book is the perfect antidote to climate anxiety. Many kids are deeply worried about the climate, biodiversity and pollution crises, but powerless to address them. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is wonderful guide to talking about these issues with children, and a great source of practical ideas to create greener schools, and drive the change we need. Every school should have one! What I love most about this book is how deeply it trusts young people. Page after page, it reinforces the idea that children don't need to wait to be grown-ups to shape the world, they just need the right scaffolding, and the belief that their voice matters. At a time when education must shift toward nurturing the human competencies that matter most-empathy, collaboration, systems thinking and creativity, this book offers a wonderful toolkit. If we want education to be more than competition and preparation for tests and individual success, if we want it to grow human beings capable of acting wisely and compassionately, then this is exactly the kind of resource we need more of. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is a thoughtful and practical resource that supports educators in embedding environmental education meaningfully into learning. What resonates most is how the hands-on ideas invite students to connect with the natural world, take purposeful action, build understanding, and be inquirers. The book is filled with teaching tips, extension suggestions, and bonus ideas that make implementation both accessible and inspiring. It moves beyond simply learning about the environment to encouraging students and educators to live it as a learning community. A must-have for any educator wanting to nurture responsible, reflective, and empowered learners on their environmental journey. Congratulations to Edd on such a valuable contribution to supporting educators around the world engage with such an important challenge. This highly practical and easy to follow treasure trove of ideas is a must read for teachers and school administrators seeking to equip our students with the knowledge, skills and dispositions that are needed to preserve our planet for future generations. From an accreditation perspective it also helps schools identify meaningful activities that evidence alignment with standards and criteria about sustainability and environmental stewardship. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School, by Edd Moore, is a complete manual for teachers to refer to, whatever age and whatever subject they teach. Our future depends on a healthy environment whether we are considering the land or even more importantly, the health of our ocean. The media is full of scaremongering, doomsday predictions about our planet and the way we are treating it – but no one tells us what we can do to keep it safe for the future of us all. The news reports rarely mention hope and the positive actions we can all take as individuals, as families, as schools and during our professional lives. As a result, young people are becoming overwhelmed with a feeling of ecoanxiety. This book will definitely address those negative feelings, it is full of ideas to captivate the imaginations of students, with practical projects that will make them feel part of the solution to produce results they can all be proud of. This is exactly what has been missing from schools' curricula in recent decades, and it can be used in schools right across the world, what a difference it will make to these youngsters' lives and what an amazing resource for their teachers. I will be recommending it far and wide to all the schools we work with at Ocean Generation. A delightful, well signposted journey that will transform even the crumbliest, grey campus into a gloriously green school. It supports the first steps for those grappling with ubiquitous plastic, to schools ready to embrace a fully Earth friendly curriculum. Packed with practical inspiration, it makes clear how small, thoroughly doable actions shape the big picture. This essential resource empowers primary teachers with practical, child-centred activities that transform environmental education from abstract concepts into meaningful action. By putting children in the driving seat of their school's eco journey, this book provides the perfect roadmap for schools to develop the next generation of passionate environmental stewards while simultaneously reducing their own carbon footprint. What makes this book truly special is how it seamlessly integrates sustainability into every aspect of school life - from curriculum to operations to community engagement. Whether you're just starting your school's green journey or looking to enhance existing initiatives, these 100 ideas offer something for every context, budget and ambition level, making sustainable education accessible to all. At Let's Go Zero, we're delighted to see such a comprehensive toolkit supporting our vision of schools leading the way to a zero carbon future. This is a valuable book packed with positive and practical ideas to help schools take action on climate and sustainability. Each idea is presented clearly and accessibly, with top teaching tips and bonus suggestions that make it easy to get started - whether you're a seasoned sustainability lead or wanting your first inspiration. The book takes a whole-setting approach, showing how every part of school life can contribute to change, from curriculum to community. We're delighted to see that Idea 100 celebrates the Climate Ambassadors programme. This book will be useful for Ambassadors themselves too - offering fresh ways to support and inspire the schools they work with. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is a great tool for sparking conversations, building momentum, and encouraging action at every level. We'll be recommending it widely. A great collection of inspiring ideas for greening many aspects of school life, with children leading the way. Edd's knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm shine through as he presents simply structured ideas, along with teaching tips, bonus ideas, and suggestions for taking each idea further, helping engage the whole school community and beyond! Whether you're a school just starting your green journey or seeking new ways to deepen it, this handbook is for you! I am often asked by children and teachers how they can help the ocean - and this book is now my answer! I'm delighted to see such practical, well researched tips on how any school can help our marine life. A must-have book for schools. As a child who has been active in environmental conservation in schools and around the world, from the age of 4 years, I can tell you confidently that a book that details the 'how to' for teachers in so many areas that will impact behavioural change regarding our planet is outstanding. This book simplifies the big topic of climate change into practical ready-to-action steps for teachers and will empower the children to take initiative to make their world a better place. The book is not only practical, covering a variety of eco topics it also gives fun ideas, initiatives to inspire their classes and school. As a 14 year old I hope the book will include nice images of nature and eco activities to invigorate imagination amongst young people. I wish Mr. Moore great success in selling the book. This book is an absolute gem. Edd is a walking, talking Mr Sustainability, fizzing with energy and bursting with ideas that don't just inspire, they ignite. His passion is contagious, but what truly sets this book apart is how powerfully he places children at the centre of the urgent change we need. Aimed squarely at primary teachers, it's a practical, joyful guide to building a whole-school culture of sustainability and regenerative education. From page one, imagination meets purpose; with classroom practice deeply connected to climate action, and young people empowered to lead. Edd gives teachers real tools to shape real change. Bursting with creative, doable ideas, the book shows how environmental action can be embedded into every part of school life; from lessons and playgrounds to leadership and community. More than a resource, it's a rallying cry. Teachers will feel equipped, energised, and hopeful. If this is what's possible when we empower children and support those who teach them, then the future is in very good hands. Bravo, Edd. The world needs this book. Edd Moore is one of the best sustainability practitioners around in the world of education. We all know how important it is to thread sustainability thinking and practice into curriculum learning, but we often need guidance to help make it happen. This brilliant book provides ideas in abundance to support teachers and empower children to be sustainability champions. Thank you, Edd, for writing such a timely book, for your endless passion and enthusiasm, and for sharing such excellent teaching tips and fascinating facts. A brilliant, practical guide that empowers educators to weave sustainability into everyday learning. Edd Moore's inspiring tried and tested ideas, perfectly complement the Earth Cubs mission, helping schools everywhere build confidence and thread content throughout culture and curriculum for a greener future. I really enjoyed reading this book and thinking about how easy you have made the work for staff and how impactful you have made the learning for the children. Some of you comments made me think and I'm a hardened old campaigner. These activities are achievable and will inspire pupils, giving them agency to address the eco issues and climate emergency on a local and think global basis. I can see the pupils using the power of maths to generate useful data to support the actions they need to take and outcomes that will even save the schools money. It's a win, win, win, win situation. Edd Moore's book can help already organised schools to level-up their commitments to sustainability and the greening of education. By leveraging vibrant community practices and child-centred learning philosophies, schools can implement any of the one hundred projects singly or in concert to participate in making their world more eco-conscious and green. This book is a seriously fun way to empower young people to engage with environmental stewardship - starting in schools and spreading like thirsty roots throughout the community. It offers tested tips and practices for engaging all stakeholders, through initiatives that inspire youth while learning valuable skills. Whether it's a single classroom learning to identify the plants and animals in their local ecosystem, or an entire school choosing to audit its entire energy footprint, the book shows students just how possible it is to make their schools - and the rest of their world - greener. As a parent with 3 children, I understand that education is the most important foundation for my children's better future. In the other hand, connecting them with nature and exposing them with the natural environment is also another critical element in building their character. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers provides ways for me to build the better foundation educating my children with applicable practices. This book is probably the best investment that I can contribute for my children and hopefully to be passed down to the generation. And as a firefly conservationist, this book also gives me such a valuable perspective about nature, biodiversity and education. They are strongly connected as an ecosystem. The insights shared in this book also widen my view in maintaining biodiversity in general, and greatly contributing to our initiative. A brilliantly practical and inspiring guide that empowers teachers to embed sustainability into everyday school life. Edd's eco-focused strategies make climate education accessible, impactful, and truly child-led. As the eco coordinator and Level 3 teacher at Damers First School in Poundbury, England, Edd Moore was the chief architect behind one of the greenest schools on the planet. His tireless work resulted in many awards, including Eco Schools Green Flag (since 2016), Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Most Outstanding Group, U.K. and Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Champion. Edd himself was selected as one of just 500 Coronation Champions by H.M. King Charles III. As you'll learn in this eco handbook, kids love eating the fruit and vegetables that they grow. They can be catalysts for change, advocating to get rid of plastic in their school and community. They love reading books in their outdoor reading circle, gardening and studying science in their own nature area. STEM applied in a wholistic, hands-on and harmonious way with nature brings learning to life… I enthusiastically recommend this book to all teachers, parents, administrators, government leaders and humans everywhere. Mr Moore was the person that inspired me to make a difference. He did this by giving me the confidence to use my voice and my actions to help improve the environment in which we live in. Mr Moore was my primary school teacher, we participated in many of the activities and ideas in this book, I was in the Eco Group that he talks about! I am now in secondary school and I share Mr Moore's ideas with my school and friends, continuing my own eco journey and inspiring others. 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School is a fantastic resource for all schools and gives so many practical and easy ideas which are tried and tested. I like that Mr Moore has added the teaching tip and bonus ideas, this makes his ideas easily accessible and promotes further thoughts for teachers. It is my teacher, Mr Moore, that inspired me and gave me a voice to inspire others. With this book in your hands, you get to inspire many other children who will use their voice to make big positive changes to our planet and encourage the next generation. You can all be Mr Moores! A visual, clear, and concise guide, 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Greener School gives practical and detailed advice on ideas and changes that can be implemented in a school environment. The 'Teaching Tips', 'Taking Things Further', and 'Bonus Ideas' sections are especially useful when considering the tangible establishment of the suggestions, with useful examples and in-depth instructions for the more complicated strategies. The environment and humankind's impact on it are vital subjects for students to learn about; now, more than ever before, we are seeing our effect on the world in terrifying detail - but raising awareness of ways we can all combat these changes are vital to improving our lives and the lives of others. With the strategies laid out in this book, students can gain a positive attitude towards their responsibilities for the environment. Teaching them these methods now creates good habits - and thus impacts - for the future.
