Review :
Yn ystod y misoedd diwethaf bm yn ddigon ffodus i ddarllen nifer o lyfrau Cymraeg rhyfeddol o ddiddorol a difyr nes peri i mi boeni fy mod yn brin o ansoddeiriau canmoliaethus. Beth bynnag am hynny, fedra i ond ei dweud hi fel rwy in ei gweld hi. Y mae Sesiwn yng Nghymru Cymry, Cwrw a Chn gan Huw Dylan Owen yn gampwaith o gyfrol, y gyfrol fwyaf diddorol a ddarllenais ers llawer dydd. Dyma sgrifennu byrlymus, cyffrous, gwybodus, brwdfrydig ac afieithus. Ychwanegwch at hynny sylwadau bachog a barn bendant ar wahanol agweddaur byd canu gwerin, Cymru a Chymreictod gan ddyn ar dn dros ganu gwerin. Mae e hefyd o blaid cyflwyno canu gwerin yn y lle y dylid gwneud hynny ymysg gwerin hwyliog y tafarnau. Mi ddysgais lawer iawn. Rai blynyddoedd yn l deuthum ar draws cerdd wedi ei hysgrifennu mewn cymysgedd o Gymraeg a Saesneg. Un o frodyr Evan James, awdur geiriau 'Hen Wlad fy Nhadau', oedd piau hi. Yn gymharol ddiweddar y deuthum i wybod bod enw ir math yna o gerdd, sef macaronic, ac yn y gyfrol hon dysgais ragor amdani. Diddorol yw ei sylwadau am ein cefndryd Celtaidd. Nid ywr Gwyddelod yn taro deuddeg yn y sesiwn Gymreig bob tro. 'Teimla rhai cerddorion gwerin fod dylanwad cerddoriaeth ddawns werin Iwerddon ar gerddoriaeth ddawns werin Cymru yn debyg iawn i ddylanwad y Saesneg ar y Gymraeg,' meddai. Hynny yw, mae perygl ir alawon Cymreig gael eu boddi gan y traddodiad Gwyddelig. A dynai sylw angharedig am 'sgrech amhersain' y bombard Llydewig. Cytunaf. Nid ywr bombard yn rhywbeth i wrando arno mewn tafarn. Maen iawn allan yn yr awyr agored mewn gŵyl ar flaen neu'n rhan o orymdaith, ond mewn stafell rhaid chwilio am gysgod rhyw biler cadarn i lechu rhyngoch ar cerddor, a hyd yn oed wedyn maer sŵn fel dril ... ac mi ydw in un syn hoff iawn o Lydaw. A sn am Lydaw, clywais stori union yr un fath chwedl 'Y Crythor Du ar Bleiddiaid' yno, ond mai bombard a ddefnyddiodd y Llydawr, nid crwth, i gadwr bleiddiaid rhag ymosod arno. Tebyg fod y bleiddiaid yn gwerthfawrogir bombard yn fwy na Huw Dylan Owen. Maen codi llu o gwestiynau teg a pherthnasol. Pam mae caneuon y West End yn cael mwy o le yn ein heisteddfodau a chyn lleied o sylw'n cael ei roi in cerddoriaeth werin gynhenid? Ble mae ein hunan-barch? Pwynt arall rhyddid cerddorol yw un o hanfodion cerddoriaeth werin, ond aeth hynny yn aml yn groes in diwylliant gwerin diweddar gyda chystadleuwyr yn cael eu cosbi am beidio chadwn slafaidd at y nodau sydd yn y copi. Dyma arweinlyfr ardderchog i dafarnau syn croesawu sesiynwyr. Hefyd, ar gychwyn pob pennod fe geir alaw draddodiadol Gymreig, tua deugain ohonyn nhw i gyd rhywbeth amhrisiadwy i grwpiau gwerin, goelia i. Gyda llaw, rwyn meddwl mai 'Glan (nid Gln) Meddwdod Mwyn' yw enwr alaw ar dud. 137. Fe gyfansoddodd John Jones (Talhaiarn) eiriau gwladgarol iawn iddi yn y gobaith y buasain dod yn anthem genedlaethol Cymru. Ddaeth hi ddim y cyfnod yn rhy ddirwestol, maen debyg, ar nodau fallen rhy uchel i gynulleidfa eu canu. Ond digon o hollti blew. Mae hon yn gyfrol gyforiog o wybodaeth ddiddorol, o farddoniaeth ardderchog, y rhan fwyaf ohoni, rwyn tybied, o waith yr awdur ei hun ac yn dangos dawn cynganeddwr medrus. Yn ogystal hynny, maer bennod olaf yn ddarn ardderchog o lenyddiaeth bur. Fedra i ddim dweud mwy. Gwyn Griffiths Gellir defnyddio'r adolygiad hwn at bwrpas hybu, ond gofynnir i chi gynnwys y gydnabyddiaeth ganlynol: Adolygiad oddi ar www.gwales.com, trwy ganiatd Cyngor Llyfrau Cymru.
