About the Book

There is a steady stream of articles and books about 'miraculous' cures from the chronic illnesses that face us in the 21st century: autoimmune conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis; neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's, MS and Alzheimer's; and many cancers. But if all these individual cases are brought together and reviewed systematically, something much more practical and less miraculous emerges - a set of principles to guide us to better health and a greater chance of recovery. Dr Jerry Thompson draws on an immense range of case histories and research studies to show how what we eat, the toxic load we carry, the environmental electromagnetic fields we live in, and our beliefs and attitudes to health and illness can change the course of disease. The result is a practical guide to what we can learn from 'survivors' about how to improve our chances of good health and recovery.

Table of Contents:
Introduction; Using food to cure; Food and health; Belief, expectation and purpose; How the mind heals; More on the mind; Toxicity and health; Releasing toxicity; Reducing toxicity; How energy can heal; Vital force, healing and electricity; Energy with us and around us; Putting it all together; Further reading

About the Author :
Dr Jerry Thompson has been working as a doctor for over four decades, mostly in general practice. He now works part-time in general practice at the Welby Practice, Bottesford, in the East Midlands. He has been a long-standing member of the British Society for Ecological Medicine (BSEM), is a member of the committee and has given regular talks for the society. In the last two decades he has been fascinated by people who have recovered from major illnesses, against the odds, often using methods poorly understood by conventional medicine but applying basic principles of good health. At the same time he became more and more aware of the fact that modern medicine is failing to provide answers for most chronic diseases and for many cancers and yet these diseases have increased at alarming rates. These understandings have led him to believe that a lot more could be done and it is his hope that this book can help people find new solutions for their illnesses based on the best medicine available. This knowledge exists but both doctors and patients are often unfamiliar with it or unaware of it. These insights led him to study nutrition (under BSEM) and the influence of the mind (he has also studied and practiced hypnotherapy, neurolinguistic programming and the emotional freedom technique). He has a special interest in toxicity and was the co-author of The Health Effects of Waste Incinerators published by BSEM. This was well-received and has been translated into two more languages. He has also written many patient leaflets on common conditions which are available on his website www.drjerrythompson.co.uk.
