Cry Hard Chucky is a tender, hand-illustrated picture storybook about wellbeing, empathy and resilience, exploring fatherhood and healthy parenting through the warm, relatable (and oftentimes giggle-inducing) relationship between a dad and son. Featuring expressive watercolour illustration by award-winning artist Emma Stuart and gentle storytelling by Australian author Andrew Kelly. The debut title in this independently published series supports emotional safety, self-regulation and kindness, showing how family encouragement helps children navigate grief, failure, fear, pain and other big feelings. Celebrating father and son connection, emotional literacy and healthy relationships, it invites young readers into a story where crying is a strength, not a weakness...
Chucky is a great little kid. He is good mannered, fun loving and into everything.
But when he makes a mistake, or things don't go his way, he tends to get angry and upset.
With Dad's help, Chucky learns the healing powers of having a good cry.
The perfect father's day gift.

"A huge part of my work around boys has been to challenge stereotypes especially boys are tough and they shouldn't cry or display vulnerability. This excellent book touches on some common tricky moments like making a mistake, not winning and when a beloved pet dies, and this Dad reassures his son..."cry hard, Chucky - it will help...and it does.
Written by a teacher in the outback Andrew Kelly and fabulously illustrated by Emma Stuart. A great resource for homes, schools and communities. Congratulations Andrew and Emma"
