About the Author :
Who Is Graham "GMAC" McFarlandGraham McFarland, known locally as GMAC, is an everyday Australian who married young and faced significant challenges following his marriage breakdown. Moving his young family to Sydney for better support and schooling, he soon encountered financial hardship due to high child support costs, which left him struggling with homelessness and without government assistance.Over time, Graham experienced parental alienation, seldom seeing his children due to outdated laws favoring mothers. The emotional toll was immense, leading to depression and isolation from fatherhood. A Turning Point: Dads in Distress Determined to change his circumstances, Graham connected with Dads in Distress, a support group that reignited his hope and equipped him with legal knowledge and strategies to rebuild his relationship with his children. He committed to personal growth-improving his health, studying family law, and surrounding himself with supportive individuals. Eventually, his persistence paid off, progressing from limited visitation to 50/50 shared care and later becoming the primary carer.Community Advocacy, From 2015 to 2018, Graham became an outspoken advocate for fathers facing similar struggles, often seen outside the Parramatta Family Law Courts raising awareness. Through his organization Family Crisis Support, he provided emergency accommodation, legal seminars, and essential supplies to separated fathers. His efforts highlighted the lack of support services available for men.Federal Election and Beyond...In 2019, Graham and his team ran for Parliament to push for reform, ultimately contributing to increased national attention and policy discussions around family law. Today, as a grandfather, Graham remains active in advocacy and co-hosts The Dads Radio Show, sharing his experiences and supporting fathers navigating separation. His journey, filled with resilience and dedication, serves as an inspiration to thousands, proving that with determination, positive change is possible. He has written this book focused on a non-biased, non-gendered, zero agenda point of view. His belief has been and will always be that all children deserve both parents in their life. Often, Australian community and political prejudices do not allow this to occur.
