About the Book

The instant New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller!

Menopause and perimenopause are still a black box to most doctors, leaving patients exasperated as they grapple with symptoms ranging from hot flushes to insomnia and brain fog. As a leading neuroscientist and women's brain health specialist, Dr Lisa Mosconi unravels the mystery by revealing how menopause doesn't impact just the ovaries, but is a hormonal show in which the brain takes centre stage.

The decline of oestrogen during menopause influences everything from body temperature to mood and memory, potentially paving the way for cognitive decline later in life. To conquer these challenges successfully, Mosconi brings us the latest approaches: from cutting-edge hormone replacement therapies such as 'designer oestrogens' to the role of hormonal contraception, and key lifestyle changes encompassing diet, exercise, self-care and self-talk.

Best of all, Mosconi dispels the myth that menopause signifies an end, demonstrating it's actually a transition. Contrary to popular belief, if we know how to take care of ourselves during menopause, we can emerge with a renewed, enhanced brain-and usher in a meaningful and vibrant new chapter of life.

'If you're like me and find yourself smack dab in the middle of menopause without any real understanding of what is happening to the brain and body you once knew, The Menopause Brain by Lisa Mosconi will quickly become your new best friend.' - Halle Berry

'Dr Lisa Mosconi is my go-to for insightful guidance on the brain during menopause' - Naomi Watts, actor

'This book is for all the times women have felt crazy, and been called crazy. We now have proof, our brains were changing, and the good news is ... often for the better.' - Alison Daddo, author of Queen Menopause

'I would consider myself someone who has consumed a lot of content about hormones. But I had never really fathomed how hormonal changes impact the brain until I read neuroscientist Lisa Mosconi's new book, The Menopause Brain. [..] I was struck by the way Lisa so beautifully articulates menopause as an opportunity to feel and see the expansive and inherent value of women, which extends well beyond any reproductive window.' -Gwyneth Paltrow

'For anyone whose brain is not playing nicely during their peri- and menopause journey.' - Dr Ginni Mansberg, author of The M Word

'The latest research with practical advice so you can take your brain's health into your own hands during midlife and beyond.' - Sarah Connor, advocate, Menopause Over Martinis

'In a society that often downplays the significance of menopause and its impact on women's lives, Dr. Mosconi's book serves as a rallying cry for embracing this transformative period with knowledge and empowerment. Her insights remind me of the importance of fostering a sense of community and support among women, a sentiment I hold dear in my own work.' - Mary Claire Haver, MD, bestselling author of The Galveston Diet

'Lisa is a genius at explaining how important hormones are in our brains. Every woman needs to read this book.' -Louise Newson, MD, bestselling author of Everything You Need to Know About Menopause and The Perimenopause

'One of the greatest gifts of menopause is knowing that we have minds of our own - and that we get to use them without worrying what anyone thinks of us! The greatest gift of The Menopause Brain is that it will give you the tools you need to make sure that your beautiful mind is vibrant, that your brain is healthy, and that you are deeply nourished.' -Aviva Romm, MD, bestselling author of Hormone Intelligence

'Written and referenced with care but phrased in a lighthearted, easy to understand style, this book is highly recommended for women who want to actively participate in preserving their brain's health as they approach and progress through perimenopause and menopause.' -Avrum Bluming, MD, bestselling author of Estrogen Matters

'In The Menopause Brain, Dr. Lisa Mosconi expertly guides us so that we do not feel alone in this journey, providing us with hope and achievable, empowering solutions drawn from her pioneering research, holistic training, and personal experience.' -Tamsen Fadal, media personality and women's health advocate
