About the Book

Sonaya, 2052. Estranged from old allies and stalked by a crooked government, one-eared ex-con Daganae Kawasaki remains shrouded by shadows, deserted and desperate to locate his estranged young daughter. But as the body count rises and drones scour the streets, Dag is forced into the most sordid corners of Sonaya in his hunt for answers. As the neon nerves of home blaze bright, a labyrinth of alleys hides a colourful cast, each engaged in a different and more dangerous game as an unwitting Dag soon discovers himself as the missing piece. You can find out more about Sonaya Nights - Book One; This Ragged, Wastrel Thing here. Tomas Marcantonio is a writer, editor, and English teacher. He received his Master's degree in Creative Writing from Teesside University, and his short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net awards. Tomas splits his time between the seaside cities of Brighton, England, and Busan, South Korea, where he enjoys getting gleefully lost in the backstreets. You can follow him on Twitter @TJMarcantonio

Review :
"Immersive, propulsive and utterly absorbing. Marcantonio shows that he is at the height of his powers with this latest instalment in the Sonaya Nights series. Rich, multi-layered with characters that leap off the page, this is a novel that will be cherished for many decades to come." - Awais Khan - Author of No Honour 'If this Ragged, Wastrel Thing was a neon-soaked slice of Sin City, then Flamingo Mist is the one-eared bastard child of Tokyo Vice and Blade Runner 2049. More Sonaya means more sake, and more Dag, means more danger. A cyber-noir-thriller series like no other.' - Anthony Self - Author of Cat Box "A pure neo-noir treat. I loved every line and page. Marcantonio paints a deeply addictive neo-noir world full of hypnotic characters. I forgot how much I'd missed Sonaya, and was totally absorbed by Flamingo Mist's vivid and rich world. Impossible to resist, I devoured it." - John Bowie - Author of Untethered "If Sin City were dropped on an Asian island, you'd get Flamingo Mist. Noir, future punk, and good old-fashioned street violence come together in the second instalment of the Sonaya Nights books. An ex-con in search of redemption and an island nation about to implode. Flamingo mist ups the stakes from This Ragged Wastrel Thing and propels Dag further into intrigue, danger, and possibly his own destruction. " - Wayne Turmel - Author of the Johnny Lycan series "A beautiful mash up of grim noir and Japanese flare with a beating heart of motorhead vigilantes. It's Sons of Anarchy meets Sin City." - Dan Stubbings - The Dimension Between Worlds "I really enjoyed This Ragged, Wastrel Thing-a dystopian noir set in gloomy, booze-drenched streets crawling with scoundrels. Tomas Marcantonio's writing is slick and intoxicating." - Adrian J Walker - Author of The End Of The World Running Club "This Ragged, Wastrel Thing is a neon distorted, gritty reflection of humanity and its quest to find belonging-dystopian novels haven't had it this good since Margaret Atwood's The Handmaids Tale." - Ross Jeffery - Author of Juniper and Tethered "This Ragged, Wastrel Thing is alive with colour, energy and vibrant language. Marcantonio possesses the rare ability of enticing the reader to turn the page, not only to discover what happens next, but to experience yet another visceral and original turn of phrase. A beautifully vicious read." - Adam Lock - Author of Dinosaur "Tomas Marcantonio has written an entertaining noir that sits comfortably between 'In the Miso Soup' by Ryu Murakami and 'The Plotters' by Un-su Kim. Dark black shadows splashed with Blade Runner neon nuances provide the perfect backdrop to a world alien to even the most adventurous tourist." - Sebastian Collier - "Within the first pages of Tomas Marcantonio's searing new book, we are utterly caught up in the crazed action of a world alight with neon fire. Filled with stunning imagery that blends beauty with horror, and sanity with absurdity, the language gives life to a world that feels so intensely realised it is as though we are walking the streets alongside Dag, Fairchild and co. With elements of Watchmen -particularly Rorschach's diary-but also of Philip. K. Dick, and Ballard, This Ragged Wastrel Thing is entirely unique and never anything other than compelling and exciting." - Professor Wu - Nothing In The Rulebook
