About the Book

When composer Victoria Pearce hears the music of the fells while walking in Ennerdale, she embarks on an all-consuming project to write her first symphony. Wrestling with the notes and score is just the first of many hurdles Vicky must overcome if her first major opus is to be heard in public. This multi-faceted portrait of a young creative in England on the cusp of the 1980s is drawn through a collection of vignettes about the greatest influences in her life. The novel opens as inspiration first strikes and follows the creative process from the inception of the work in the Lake District to the challenge of getting the music performed.

About the Author :
Author Maggie Shaw creates her stories from her many and varied life experiences. A teenage runaway who made good before her recent autistic spectrum disorder diagnosis, Maggie writes as one who has walked the walk in recovery and spiritual development. Her degrees in science, divinity and church music, and her career as a Mental Health Dietitian, give a solid framework to the exciting adventure stories she loves to tell. The Scottish hills and Lakeland fells where her forebears farmed often feature as landscapes in her work. Maggie is also a church musician, composer and songwriter, and the stories she writes inspire many of her songs. This is the twelfth book Maggie has published through micropublisher Eregendal. Her music and short stories have been broadcast by Radio Carlisle, Cat Radio, and Red Shift Radio; and she has contributed articles to The St Raphael's Guild Chrism, The Church of England Newspaper, and Soul and Spirit Magazine. Online, Maggie also publishes through ArtSwarm, YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook and the Eregendal website www.eregendal.com. Maggie lives in Cheshire with her husband Alan and their cat, Tarby.
