About the Book

Exiled royalty. Elemental magic. Evil incarnate. Torn from Earth, Brave Kingsfort lands alone in a wild new world. On the run from a ruthless dictator, his unpredictable talent for connecting to the elements is the least of his worries until he discovers it might be his only way out. True Harborsfort is determined to impress her parents but when a heart-breaking decision at the root of her family's downfall is revealed, everything changes. Including herself. Beyond recognition. It’s terrifying. So why does it feel so good? Forced to make an alliance, Brave and True must overcome their families’ lies to trust one another and survive. All the while, deeply guarded mysteries lurk in the shadows, waiting to reshape their world forever. The Dangers of Being Brave & True is a young adult epic fantasy novel and the first book in The Broken Spell series. Grounded in family conflict, elemental magic and evolving friendships, it is a character driven YA fantasy quest. May Balance be your guide.

Review :
A fantastic ride from the very first page...The reader is rocketed through a string of adventures as Brave and True bristle along, each searching for answers...I loved the engaging supporting cast too, the wonderful world building and the twisty plot that entertains as it carries you along. Lots of fast flowing and witty dialogue, together with landscapes that leave you gasping with delight. I look forward to Book Two, once I’ve caught my breath. Sir Julius Vogel Award winning YA author Deryn Pittar.; I loved reading this book! The world building was amazing! I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next! I can’t wait to read the next book! ~ Willaspahela, LibraryThing, Early Reviewers. ; Excellent character development, great concept and storyline... The start immediately engaged and I do think the use of language is fantastic... Best young adult book I have read in years and I read a few to the kids when they were younger. ~ Sean, ferocious reader. ; LOVE THIS GOODREADS 5 star REVIEW! ***** My son has loved this book! He has struggled to read his whole life and when we purchased this book...he got struck right in and the pride he felt was awesome. I have loved seeing him so involved and dedicated to his reading. My older son has started reading and he's really enjoying it too! Highly recommend! I want to buy a second book for my sister's classroom!
