About the Book

16 TERRIFYING HORROR STORIES IN ONE COLLECTION From the 17th century to the distant future, across Nepal, Europe, and South Africa-these macabre tales will horrify you. International best-selling author Newton Webb brings you sixteen spine-chilling stories of supernatural beings, serial killers, cannibalism and folk horror. Including: The Black Fog A small town is mysteriously overtaken by a dense, creeping fog, and death follows in its wake. As the body count rises, two lovers must race against time to save their families. The Sinful Child Trapped in her father's basement, Amelia fights to escape. But as she pieces together the horrifying truth, she begins to wonder-could there be a method to his madness? The Tattoo A young girl hitches a ride with a sinister truck driver, but as they swap stories, both realise neither is who they claim to be. In a world of deception and darkness, sometimes the predator is not who you expect. Festival of the Damned Four teenagers, hired to perform at a country fair, soon realise they were each chosen for a very specific and deadly purpose. Perfect for readers of Stephen King, Clive Barker, Blair Daniels, Duncan Ralston, and James Herbert.

Review :
Praise for Tales of the Macabre, Vol. 1: "This book was full of nail-biting moments. The book was full of variety that kept you engaged and wanting to read the next story" "Newton Webb never disappoints. His debut collection includes most of his best stories, spanning a huge amount of time and going through a great variety of settings. Some are novelettes, others more of a typical short story length, always well written, with a fantastic use of the English language" "These 16 scary stories are really, really good! My absolute favorites of the bunch were Festival of the Damned and The Heir Apparent (man, what a twist I was NOT expecting!)" "This was a very enjoyable collection of eerily prophetic stories, full of variety and encompassing a world of demonic entities, cannibalism, ghouls, murder, ancient curses and deviant sex addiction. From folk horror to supernatural sci-fi tales, what more could you wish for? Each story slowly unfolds with a sense of unease and menace, complimented by many unexpected twists and turns. The moral theme of these stories would appear to be, 'be careful of what you wish for'. Highly recommended" Reviewed by Gaius Konstantine for Readers' Favorite Good things come in small packages, and great stories do not have to be long-winded. Tales Of The Macabre: Volume I by Newton Webb is a collection of short stories that takes readers on a journey through centuries and exotic locales, from the sewers of London to the distant stars. The anthology offers dark and eerie tales that include a group of young street urchins struggling against becoming a conduit for filth and villainy when they collide with an evil more sinister than their criminal overlord, a son's unwavering love for his mother beyond death, and a very peculiar hunt. These are just some of the bizarre stories waiting to test your sanity. However, the most important thing to remember is that if you visit the house of ill-repute, euphemistically known as the "Datacentre," you should avoid the platinum service as if it were the plague. Tales Of The Macabre by Newton Webb is a collection of mysterious stories that is both imaginative and well-written. The individual tales are reminiscent of shows like The Twilight Zone and Tales From the Dark Side and range from very good to excellent. While there is considerable variety in the subjects covered, the pace is crisp and well-balanced throughout. The characters were all quite intriguing, and menace was present in many of them. The only drawback (if you can call it that) is that I feel many of the stories could be expanded into short novels, and I was left wanting more. Overall, Tales Of The Macabre is a delightful little anthology that deserves a place in my hard copy collection and is perfect for rainy, thunder-filled nights.
