About the Book

Money. Politics. Big Pharma. What could go wrong? As PTSD therapist Claire Wilheit is about to learn, a whole helluva lot. A chance after-hours encounter with a fellow therapist reveals falsified patient files and thrusts Claire into a conspiracy poised to revolutionize treatment for US veterans now and for future generations, with deadly collateral damage. Set in Phoenix in the near future, the forces of dark money in politics, congressional abdication of oversight functions, and plain old obscene greed create a perfect storm. Locked in a race against time to stop the release of one of most dangerous drugs ever developed, Claire is plunged into an intrigue of corruption, runaway egos and medical hubris. But she's up against greed, power and a clock that's about to run out.

About the Author :
I'm lucky enough to have had three pretty diverse careers spanning forty years. But solving puzzles has been at the heart of each one. As a masters prepared health care administrator, I worked as a strategic planner, hospital administrator and implemented the pre-hospital/categorization program in Central Arizona. A bachelor's degree in fine arts, put on the back burner for seventeen years, served me well as second career as a commissioned portrait artist. After all, what's a blank canvas except another big puzzle to solve? To date, I've completed nearly 400 commissions nationwide, and authored four books and four DVDs teaching other artists about my craft - and helping them develop their own. As a voracious fiction reader, a relentless grammar nut, and Scrabble junkie, I love communicating clearly and with the best style I can. And here we are! My first novel, set in the near future, about corruption and conspiracy within the government's delivery of mental health service to PTSD patients in the VA system. Sound far-fetched to you? Not to me. I care about this stuff, deeply, and this is one way for me to elevate not only my own concerns, but those of so many of my fellow citizens.

Review :
This was a massively entertaining, engaging and fun read. Fans of the great Tom Clancy will be on the edge of their seat throughout this fantastic novel. The fusion of conspiracy thriller with family drama and ordinary people thrust into dark tales of corruption and life threatening action like no other, author Chris Saper has done a wonderful job of reigniting this genre for the modern reader. Big Pharma and big money manipulate Congress to implement a far-reaching and malignant public policy with untold lethal results. Collateral Carnage is a fast-paced intrigue written with a Dan Brown-esque style. It incorporates multiple story lines from different perspectives, with an escape scene worthy of a blockbuster film. Collateral Carnage is seamless, fast-paced thriller. Chris Saper's debut novel is set in the near future with a backdrop that is beyond timely -it is built on the scandals the country's VA has had in treating Veterans, especially those with PTSD, the move toward privatization of government services, and inadequate oversight of drug approval and patenting. Collateral Carnage is set in the near future, and I love the way that the subplots all come together to create not just a terrific story but a prescient statement about where we are. Powerful, and unpredictable. A fast-moving pace is steeped in subterfuge and the danger of vilently corrupt Bi Pharma experimenting on PTSD patients in the VA Phoenix...the focus on veterans abused by the VA system is unique for fiction, and when it's combines tieh Big Pharma green and corruption, this story is not only original, it's also timely. Battling one man is one thing, but Claire and Robert have to take on a whole medical conglomerate to stop this runaway train. Claire is a delightfully flawed woman who does well in her career, but not so well in her own personal relationships. It is exciting to watch her team up with Robert to take on evil 'Big Pharma.' The conspiracy with the drug maker is not the only drama unfolding. Claire has a dysfunctional gold-digging sister that adds some indulgent sleazy drama to an otherwise serious thriller. Entrenched in family and politics, this story will not be without collateral damage. Chris Saper is a literary genius with a keen sense of observation. Collateral Carnage is an addictive thriller that checks all the right boxes.
