About the Book

A deeply moving story about two men in search of the life their father led in Vietnam during the American War. Heart-tugging revelations, unexpected adventures and unlikely romances unfold as Marc, an American lawyer, retraces his father's footsteps from the teeming streets of Ho Chi Minh City, (still Saigon to many), to the highlands of the mysterious Montagnard tribes. there he not only finds his past and his future, he falls deeply in love with a remarkable and powerful woman who changes his life forever. Along the way, the author describes the ancient country and its peoples with the deep understanding he gained living there as a civilian for ten years during the 1960s-70s. His love of Vietnam is robustly evident and readers will come away with a far deeper understanding of the country and its rich history. The Australian, JJ, struggles with a different route toward self-discovery before he learns the disturbing, yet liberating truth about his father. This is not a war story, but a powerful romance driven by characters in a desperate search to understand themselves -- and the country that gave them life.

Review :
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL REVIEW FROM READER'S FAVORITE Finding Father is an adventure novel about two men in search of their fathers' roots in Vietnam and discovering themselves in the process. Written by Peter S. Glick, Finding Father follows Y'Dun, an American lawyer of Vietnamese ancestry, whose discovery of his father's journals leads him to undertake a soul-searching odyssey in Vietnam. Running parallel to Y'Dun's narrative is the story of JJ, an Australian engineer with a Vietnamese mother, who is searching for the identity of his biological father. As the two men traverse the Vietnamese countryside in their respective quests, they survive hostile airport security, make some loyal friends, and fall in love with beautiful Vietnamese women. But Y'Dun and JJ are in for a surprise that will change their lives as they find out that the two of them share far more in common than they previously thought. Finding Father is an engrossing tale of self-discovery that beautifully exhibits the rich culture and heritage of Vietnam and showcases the traditions of its people. Author Peter S. Glick's novel feels like an ode to the country of Vietnam as he wonderfully portrays contemporary Vietnam with one foot steeped in history influenced by the French and American wars and another coming to terms with its Communist regime. JJ finding unexpected help amongst strangers through Binh, Thien, and Thuy were some of my favorite portions of the book. I was also intrigued by the contrasting thoughts and attitudes of the two protagonists in their initial stages of the journey. Anyone craving a well-written adventure novel should give Finding Father a go.--Paul Rogan "Reader's Favorite"
