About the Book

Annotations This book is unique because it contains a literary criticism that was made by Juan AcevedoFramed within the comic novel, Emma is a very curious work, as well as its protagonist who owes the name of its title. He is a character so characteristic that he does not even need to add his last name to obtain his strength. Although we do not forget that we are in the England of the Regency, so let's do things right. Emma Woodhouse lives with her father and her governess. When she is, Miss Taylor, decides to get married, the young woman has to deal with her own loneliness. And since it is a proud and quite eccentric girl, the merit of the marriage of the woman with Mr. Weston (her husband) is granted, since it was she who presented them. Now I feel like I can not think of anything but those poor beings for the rest of the day; and yet how soon it will take away from my mind!In this way, Emma will start exercising as a matchmaker, trying to help people around her achieve happiness. But, let's not deceive ourselves: although it does not have a bad background, the truth is that the young woman will sin of meddling, jealous and manipulative. On more than one occasion, their eagerness because the facts (that is, marriages) to develop as she considers pertinent, will hinder the true intentions of those involved. Before beginning the novel, Austen wrote: "I'm going to take a heroine that, except me, will not like much."It is true that there are attitudes of a spoiled child in Emma Woodhouse that can arouse the reader's contempt but, in reality, its charm and authenticity resides in it. Because in spite of being a girl of good position and with quite resolute life, she has a strong personality and is tremendously kind to those with whom she pretends to be. In addition, it is thanks to the complexity of this character that Emma is considered one of the best novels in world literature. It is Jane Austen's first novel that I have the pleasure of reading, so I can not make the comparison with Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility. That will come, they will have their entry into this space. But according to the information I have gathered, Emma is a different story from the English author (in fact, most of the guides recommend leaving Emma for the end). But if you are impatient like me, tell you that you will not find any nuisance to enjoy it beautifully.Where the injury had occurred there should be healed, if that was possible; and Emma realized that until she saw her friend in the process of healing she could not recover her true peaceOf course, as expected, the pace is slow, very descriptive and condescending. We are talking about a novel of more than four hundred pages, whose technique is basically the traditional narration without excessive dialogues (and, those that are, are sufficiently tedious so that their reading is not at all agile). Although as I said, it is classified as a comic work, the truth is that situations of laughter will come to dropper. Let's say that what counts is irony, misunderstandings, entanglements and gossip.
