About the Book

THE YEAR IS 2020. The world is at war with a deadly pandemic and the nation is rife with political partisanship and division. The delineations between left and right, right and wrong, and true and false are blurred. Turmoil ensues.

Citizens of the nation quarrel amongst themselves, their hearts focused on division rather than unity, while COVID-19 is laser-focused on its attack, targeting the vulnerable, indiscriminately taking out its victims without regard to race, religion or political leanings. A relentless and ravaging enemy, it spreads across the planet in record time, killing tens of thousands daily.

Worldwide economies implode as social distancing and mask mandates choke the life out of once thriving industries. Schools and businesses are forced to shut down, creating mass joblessness and childcare chaos. Bank accounts are depleted and food lines are implemented. Climate change wreaks havoc on the earth spawning raging fires and horrific storms
that render populations homeless and desperate. Chaos abounds.

In the outskirts of Fayetteville, Arkansas, the Patterson family tumbles through 2020, touched by the calamities of this perilous time. A tenuous marriage, isolation, childhood trauma, societal discourse, and COVID-19 all come together in this present-day novel wherein triumph and miracles battle to overtake tragedy and mayhem.

HINDSIGHT is a story that focuses on the fragility of human life as well as the resilience of the human spirit to overcome despair
with hope, loneliness with love, and chaos with clarity; for hindsight is 20/20.

About the Author :
Diane Kramer grew up in Chicago suburbia the fourth of six children. She received her Bachelor of Education degree in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas and continued to live in the Kansas City area, raising her family of three children there. Currently, she and her husband have retired to Lawrence, Kansas where they are fortunate to enjoy their wonderful brood of four grandchildren who live close by.

Recently, Diane has embarked on a new journey as a writer, and has published three books to date. Palpitations recalls some of her most memorable and poignant moments in her thirty-seven years of mothering. Her children's book, Shoo! Nasty Bug, Don't Bother Me! is about the challenges children face living through a pandemic such as Covid19. All royalties from this book go to Direct Relief for PPE and to the support and benefit of our front-line workers.

As 2020 came to a welcome conclusion, Diane also completed her first fictional novel, The Weavers and The Shuttles Fly. The novel spins a tale of four generations of a family woven together in unexpected and unimaginable ways. It is a compelling story of love and loss, joy and despair, triumph and tragedy and hope for things seen and unseen. Currently, Diane offers her second novel, Hindsight. It is a story of a family that tumbles through the trying and unprecedented challenges facing a nation under siege by a deadly pandemic as well as civil discourse and climate disasters. It is a story of love, regret, grace and redemption.

Diane looks forward to continuing her writing during her retirement years as it is an investment in time that brings great joy.
