John Farrell, former CIA operative-turned-art dealer, has apparently walked into a good deal gone wrong in Sicily. He now waits, wounded and in hiding, for the cavalry--and, according to his SOS, only Mrs. Pollifax will do. Within the hour, the intrepid Mrs. Pollifax is on her way, her new red hat with the long feather pinned carefully to her hair, and a small travel case in hand.
A youngish-looking female partner named Kate, her mysterious aunt whose farm is more heavily guarded than Fort Knox, multimillionaire art collectors, and an uncomfortably familiar assassin await Mrs. Pollifax in Italy. Keeping track of who is a criminal and who is not becomes increasingly difficult as the action heats up.
Dodging assassins' bullets and sneaking into well-guarded mansions are hardly typical daily activities for a woman of Mrs. Pollifax's years and breeding ... but then Mrs. Pollifax is not your typical garden-club grandmother.

Review :
"Ancient artifacts, hair-raising chases, art forgery, arms traffic, a nighttime assault on the villa, mysterious millionaires, spectacular scenery and unexpected romance are some of the ingredients simmering in the plot."
-- "Publishers Weekly"
"Barbara Rosenblat individualizes the characters' voices so convincingly that each comes to life, leaving no doubt as to gender and age, and her French and Italian accents are perfect. She injects drama and suspense and is effective at portraying the humorous bits as well. Overall, this is an enjoyable listening experience."
