About the Book

This inspiring series explores the lives of amazing women who have changed the world, from scientists and activists to writers and artists. Each illustrated graphic novel takes young readers through the hardships and triumphs of real women, featuring Rosa Parks, Marie Curie, Ida B. Wells, Dolly Parton, Amelia Earhart, and Shirley Chisholm.

About the Author :
Lauren Burke is a writer and editor from Chicago, Illinois. Her work focuses on women's history, travel, and classic literature. She also co-hosts a podcast called Bonnets at Dawn about the lives and works of women writers from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Kaara Kallen is a writer, editor, teacher, learner, and activist. When she is not writing about inspiring scientist-humanitarians, she is working to make the world safer for wildlife and people. She lives in Chicago with her husband, their daughter, and their two cats. Emily Skwish's favorite animal is the sea otter. Her favorite drink is coffee with cream. Her favorite flower is the Persian buttercup. And her favorite job is writing children's books. She lives in Evanston, Illinois with her gifted husband and two funny kids. Anastasia Magloire Williams enjoys working with bold characters and writing vibrant stories that reflect a diverse and beautiful world. When she isn't reading everything in sight, she can be found tending to her many plants, gaming with her husband, or painting in her studio in sunny Florida. Patrice Aggs is a Michigan-born author and artist who currently lives in the UK. She has written and illustrated dozens of books for children and adults, and loves working on graphic novels best of all. She would have been thrilled to have met Shirley Chisholm. Her mom still has the "Chisholm for President" campaign badge! Kim Moldofsky is an all-around creative person and lifelong learner with a penchant for adventure. Inspired by Amelia Earhart, she recently flew in a restored 1929 biplane. In turn, Kim has inspired a generation of STEM kids through her website, The Maker Mom. This is her first book. Largely self-taught, Shane Clester initially worked in comics and storyboards. He has transitioned to his real passion - children's books - even self-publishing several of his own. He currently lives in Florida with his wonderful wife and their two kids. Rosie Baker was lucky enough to grow up in Dorset, England, surrounded by nature and a creative family. She began her artistic career using sticks, mud, and crayons, developing a passion for suing color to create bright and lively pictures. Later on she discovered a love of comic books and a digital artwork and has since been having the time of her life working on books such as this one! Currently Rosie enjoys living by the sea and drawing every day surrounded by her many plants. Lidia Fernández Abril started her career at different animation studios working as an inbetweener, clean-up artist, and storyboard artist. Now she focuses on illustrating children's books and comics, as well as designing characters and backgrounds for kids' games. She loves the process of developing a story, but what she enjoys most about her work is that it allows her to preserve her inner child and keep drawing! She lives in Valladolid, Spain, with her loved ones. Alleanna Harris is a graduate of the University of the Arts Animation program. She is inspired by the beauty in everyday things, such as how sunlight looks coming through the window in the morning or how people interact at the mall in her New Jersey town. In addition to illustrating, she likes listening to her favorite music playlists, sharing her art on Instagram, researching history articles, and hanging out with friends and family. Markia Jenai was raised in Detroit during rough times, and found adventure through art and storytelling. After studying at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, she has made it her goal to create worlds where people of color are front and center. When she's not drawing, she like to watch documentaries, listen to Dungeons & Dragons livestreams, and read historical articles, all of which fuels her work! Alan Brown lives and works as a children's book illustrator on the North Coast of England. When he's not drawing adventures and mysteries, he can be found out and about having adventures and solving mysteries with his wife, songs, and fuzzball companion Otto the Cockapoo.
