About the Book

From Cell Phones to Smart Homes: The Hidden Health Costs of Our Wireless World

We live in an always-on wireless world--but at what cost? In UnPlug, physician Rob Brown, MD, reveals how constant exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and microwave radiation from cell phones, Wi-Fi, and countless connected devices is quietly harming our health. Drawing parallels to the unchecked smog and industrial pollution of the past, Dr. Brown shows how "electropollution" disrupts metabolism, weakens the immune system, and may even contribute to anxiety, depression, and aggression in society.

Blending clear science with compelling real-life stories, UnPlug makes the invisible threat of radiation understandable and relatable. More importantly, it empowers readers with practical strategies to reduce exposure and make healthier choices in everyday life. Accessible, urgent, and eye-opening, UnPlug is for anyone concerned about wellness, technology, and the unseen currents shaping our future.

About the Author :
Rob Brown, MD has been a practicing diagnostic radiologist for thirty years. An understanding that environmental toxins cause disease inspired his book Toxic Home/Conscious Home. He now focuses on the health impacts of electromagnetic fields. Dr. Brown is the VP of Science Research and Clinical Affairs for the Environmental Health Trust.

Review :
"As a researcher with extensive experience studying digital health and behavior change, I find this work highly applicable. It offers clinicians practical, evidence-informed insights to support patient care, provides the public with clear, actionable guidance, and gives researchers a strong foundation of concepts, methods, and implications to advance rigorous study and translation into real-world practice. It is also a pure joy to read, making complex topics easily understandable."
--Hugh S. Taylor, Anita O'Keeffe Young Professor and Chair, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Yale School of Medicine

"I found Rob Brown's latest book both frightening and comforting. The invisible danger lurking in our environment was explained in a manner most will understand, and his solutions for keeping us as safe as possible were very reassuring. This is a must read for everyone who wants to know the truth about the dangers of EMR so they can protect themselves and their loved ones."
--James Lyons, Associate Chief Medical Officer Radpartners operations western United States and Diagnostic/Interventional Radiologist

"In this eye-opening book, radiologist Dr. Robert R. Brown draws on decades of medical imaging expertise and personal research to clearly explain the potential effects of the invisible electromagnetic "weather system" we now live in--from dirty electricity and Wi-Fi to 5G and modulated microwaves. Blending accessible science with practical steps for detection and reduction, UnPlug bridges physics, biology, medicine, and everyday life. It is essential reading. As technology accelerates, this book empowers readers to protect their health and their children's future without rejecting modern conveniences--offering informed wisdom in an age of unchecked electropollution."
--Dr. Magda Havas, Professor Emerita at Trent University

"In Unplug, Dr. Rob Brown delivers a masterful and timely work that serves as both a scientific blueprint and a public guide to one of the most pervasive exposures of modern life. Drawing from medicine, engineering, physics, chemistry, and biology, he weaves a unified and compelling narrative that transforms complex principles into clear, understandable insight. Remarkably, it reads with the ease of a novel while providing a rich historical foundation on electromagnetic fields and wireless technology. This book empowers readers, clinicians, and policymakers alike with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions."
--Anthony Mannarino, MD, Physician, Wills Eye Hospital, Life Fellow American Academy of Ophthalmology

"In Unplug Dr. Rob Brown does something both radical and refreshingly sane: he invites us to notice the invisible. With wit, precision, and a clinician's steady gaze, he traces the subtle choreography between electromagnetic fields and the biology they permeate. The result is equal parts detective story and survival guide. Read it, and you may never look at your glowing devices--or your own remarkable cellular machinery--the same way again."
--Devra Davis, PhD, MPH, author of Disconnect--a scientist's solutions for safer technology, Founder of Environmental Health Trust

" 'Out of sight, out of mind' is an old adage that can easily apply to electromagnetic fields. Because we cannot see, touch, or smell them, it's easy to assume that they don't have an impact on us. But they do. Dr. Brown uses his medical and technical backgrounds to explain how the fields generated from wireless devices (cellphones, cell towers, smart meters, Wi-Fi, etc.) impact adults, children, and the environment. In addition to describing the harms of wireless radiation exposure, he outlines and prioritizes the important steps that can be taken to protect you and your family against them."
--Kent Chamberlain, PhD, Professor and chair, emeritus, Department of electrical and computer engineering, University of New Hampshire and Fulbright Distinguished Chair

"Dr. Brown has, with unusual agility, traversed the distinct domains of physics, medicine, biology, politics and engineering to assemble this digestible, entertaining, life-enhancing guide to existence within the modern world. The interdisciplinary information map that he has created is an essential tool for the contemporary citizen, competent doctor, aspiring policy maker and next generation. Our very existence depends on understanding and safely navigating the complex interplay between the electromagnetism of our creation and the electromagnetism that we have created."
--Dr. Erica Mallery-Blythe, Special Expert International Commission on Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields

"UnPlug is a comprehensive tour de force--a scientific review and practical guide to EMF hazards and safety that I am proud to say has been written by a fellow holistic radiologist. Most consider that term an oxymoron, but actually radiologists refine the skill of recognizing patterns, allowing us to see the effects of invisible energetic forces at work in diagnosis, treatment, and tissue damage that may go unrecognized by other scientists. Rob Brown surveys the entire rainbow of the electromagnetic spectrum from the unique perspectives of radiation physics, radiofrequency resonance phenomena in MRI, and color Doppler ultrasound imaging."
--Larry Burk, MD, CEHP, Author of Let Magic Happen: Adventures in Healing with a Holistic Radiologist, Former member of the Society for MRI Safety Committee
