About the Author :
Christian Potra brings over 20 years of experience and innovation to the Adult Family Home model of elder care. The systems, processes, training, and attention to personal needs and requirements of residents under his care are what have propelled the growth of 16+ homes in the Seattle Metro area. Chris’ enthusiasm for bringing this alternative to the traditional institutional model of assisted living to a wider market is the driving force behind this book. Stephen Morris, MD, MPH, started his professional career in education, ecology, and international development before moving onto medicine, always with the intention of combining it with public health. His clinical specialty is Emergency Medicine, and holds the position of Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Global Health at the University of Washington’s Schools of Medicine and Public Health, respectively. Michael Hearl has teamed up with Christian for the past five years in building the marketing and financial cornerstones of the Adult Family Home business, bringing his experience in both the ministry and real estate development worlds. Michael is intent upon working alongside families who carry a keen sense of the importance of being good stewards of family resources while providing the best possible care for loved ones.

Review :
“Unlike a sports contest, elder care isn’t a game with the option of ‘playing out the clock.’ This wonderful, fluidly written, and concise book is a must-have for anyone who wants to understand the facts, the finances, and the sometimes difficult pathways most all of us must grapple with in planning for the care of our aging loved ones. This simple, understandable, and brilliantly researched book is a comforting—and indispensable—guide to some of life’s biggest decisions.” —Pat Cashman, Emmy-winning TV comedian, writer and Seattle radio host “If you are looking for answers for a loved one or a business opportunity, you need look no further than Senior Care by Design. This timely book has what you’re looking for.” —Dr. Mike Mutchler, Pastor of Grand View Baptist Church ”In this landmark book, senior and adult care home experts offer a sound path to selecting the best assisted living or memory care for your loved ones. More than a guide for families seeking a facility, it also provides details of operating an adult care home for those interested. Every family will face the question of how to obtain optimal care for their aging members—and find much needed answers here.” —Leonide Martin, RN, FNP, DrPH “This book is not only eye opening to the real needs of senior housing but provides an alternative solution that is truly insightful. In light of Covid19’s ramifications, it's time we stop turning a blind eye to senior housing needs and find other ways... and this is it.” —Fred J Choy, Senior Pastor, Seattle Community Church “This is a must-read book if you live in America! There is so much pertinent information for so many people, especially in a post-COVID environment.” —Jim Krieger – Founder/CEO, Abide Corporation
