About the Author :
About the Author Tony Gee was born in Germany in 1958, his father being a soldier at the time. Growing up, he lived in various locations in England including Kent and Yorkshire. He became a manager at the age of nineteen and remained in management for all of his career in food retail up until he retired at the age of sixty. The first eighteen months of his managerial life was spent on the road covering stores all across the UK. This period is notable for the transition of the Trade Unions during the Margaret Thatcher years and the effect this had on the dynamics of managing people in these changing work environments. Tony worked for most of the major food retailers in the UK and, like many, started at the bottom and worked his way up to Area Manager. He has been involved in opening new stores, store conversions and major re-vamps and has met a number of the most influential and inspirational leaders of these companies along the way. As the years past and he moved around, he became increasingly interested in the intricacies of managing people, developing them, mentoring them and then enjoying seeing them flourish. He realised that he had a flair for this area of his role and this was noticed by others also, some whom encouraged him to write a book, this book.
