Review :
Fraught with penetrating practicality, FROM TRASH TO TREASURE offers reality-based perspective, and Biblically-centered hope in a delightful package that includes real-life accounts illustrating the power of transforming grace in and through the challenges of life. Avril's inviting writing style welcomes the reader into a fresh experience with the Lord Who will redeem and repurpose life's junk into beautiful jewels. Avril uses picturesque language with the skills of a gifted writer to bring the reader into a place of fresh hope with a renewed sense of divine destiny. Dr. Bryan K Johnson President, Cross-National Partnerships; Former Dean, Seattle Bible College FROM TRASH TO TREASURE is filled with practical real life analogies to bring home the message with a healthy feed and inspirational blessing. Its words are life-changing as it searches out the 'hidden trash' in our lives, either forgotten or unaware, that stymies us, replacing it with re-claimed freedom, through suggested persuasive powerful prayers. It is a thought-provoking read, motivating action for free abundant living. It stimulates movement in our lives, totally 'dumping the trash' once and for all; seeking wholeness from brokenness, redeeming and restoring true freedom in Christ. Shirl DeBay, Ph.D, Psychologist FROM TRASH TO TREASURE is an ideal book for any who have ever struggled with self- worth or have questioned God's love. This book is also ideal for those who help others discover God's truth about who they are and whose they are. Avril VanderMerwe takes the reader on a journey of discovering God's redemptive plan, revealing God's power through Christ to transform our personal trash. Sharing from her own life experiences as well as from examples in Scripture, Avril addresses such issues as identity, fear, control, trust, and forgiveness. At the end of each chapter, she challenges the reader to examine his or her own life, giving an invitation to pray, acknowledge need, repent, and surrender to God's will. Having served in ministry for over forty years, I highly recommend this book for personal spiritual growth and as a guide for professional, Biblical counseling. Dr. Kathleen M. Troll Dean, Seattle Bible College; Director, By His Grace Ministries & Word of Hope Retreats Avril VanderMerwe, from South Africa, shows in this passionate book how the trash in our lives, whether it be mental, physical, emotional, spiritual or circumstantial, can be transformed by Jesus. She gives many examples and descriptions that paint a beautiful picture with words. She has experienced what she writes about, and the love of God shines through her with passion to share how much God loves us. It is a great book for individuals or a Bible study group, with great scriptures, and each chapter ends with a provocative question and prayer. Avril truly shows us how to give our trash to Jesus to "make something beautiful out of our lives". Patricia Olson Retired Principal and Daycare Director; Fulbright Alumnus
