About the Book

During the 2015/16 Broadway season, there were a record-breaking 13.3 million admissions to Broadway shows, and musicals performed on Broadway generated over 1.17 billion dollars; there is a huge audience of devoted fans hungry for behind-the-scenes Broadway stories. The Phantom of the Opera is the most lucrative entertainment enterprise of all time, earning upwards of 6 billion in box office revenue. It has been translated into 15 languages, seen by 140 million people, and played 35 countries and counting. Phantom will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Broadway on January 26, 2018. "Phans" worldwide are passionate and curious about what happens behind the curtain of their favorite show. Over 40 million people in the US are taking antidepressants, and just from 1999 to 2012 the number of people taking them nearly doubled; people are looking for a way to reduce their suffering and find fulfillment in their lives. Harris polls over the last decade have indicated that only 1 in 3 Americans (33%) self-report as "very happy."
