Can I Keep Them?: I Mean ... May I Please?

Little Owen has a dilemma: After rescuing two kittens in a nearby wooded area of the neighborhood, his fathers have told him that he may keep only one. But which one? Owen loves both Izzy and Whitey. The boy learns about caring for pets as well as civic responsibility for feral cats in the neighborhood. He also gets to know his neighbor, the mean Mrs. Williams. Ironically, it is through their developing friendship that Mrs. Williams and Owen share secrets that lead him to decide which kitten he should keep. Bruce K. An artist, writer and teacher, Bruce K. Hanson enjoys creating art that relates to what he teaches and visa-versa. Trained as an actor and artist in NYC, Bruce received an MFA in sculpture and pottery from C.C.N.Y. His first book, The Peter Pan Chronicles was published in 1993 with a much expanded second edition published as Peter Pan on Stage and Screen in 2011. In 2016, he published the humorous yet touching book, For the Record: Confessions of a Vinyl-Soundtrack Junkie, which has been received enthusiastically by critics and readers alike. In 2004 Bruce was recognized by DisneyHand as one of the best 100 teachers in the USA and he became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2010. More recently, Bruce was voted Teacher of the Year twice in a six-year period at his school while also winning an Inspiration award from his school district. The author resides in Petersburg, Virginia, where he lives with his partner, Dale, and his pet duck, hens, and his cats: Izzy, Whitey, and Brother and Sisters, who are the subjects of Can I Keep Them, his first children's book.
