About the Book

Will Heidi's cooking lessons turn into life lessons for five unlikely students? Heidi Troyer cooks up the idea of teaching classes in the art of Amish cuisine in her Holmes County, Ohio, home. But is it a recipe for drama when five very different men and women answer the advertisement? Join a class of unlikely Ohioans who take cooking lessons at Lyle and Heidi Troyer's Amish farm. A woman engaged to marry, an expectant mother estranged from her family, a widowed mom seeking to simplify, a Vietnam vet who camps on the Troyer's farm, and an Amish widower make up the mismatched lot of students. Class members share details of their disappointing lives, work to solve a mystery, and stir some romance into the pot. Soon Heidi's cooking lessons turn into life lessons as they each share their challenges. . .and their souls are healed one meal at a time. Is this what God had in mind when Heidi got the idea for cooking classes?

Review :
Brunstetter maintains the warmth and love of her other fiction. The mix of well-drawn Amish and "English" protagonists adds a flavorful accent to the narrative. Readers will be hard pressed not to take this book to the dinner table after reading the mouth-watering recipes included.-- "Library Journal" (2/1/2017 12:00:00 AM) Fans of The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club series are likely to love Brunstetter's latest. In fact, some characters even overlap. The cooking students easily pull the reader in, and the yummy recipes may leave you racing to the kitchen after reading this book. There is such a cozy feel to the story, but it is not a fluff message. All of the characters are dealing with realistic struggles, and it is interesting to see how they come together to help each other.--Leslie L. McKee "RT Book Reviews" (2/1/2017 12:00:00 AM) Ms. Brunstetter is no stranger to the Amish way of life. As one of the founders of the Amish fiction genre, it's no wonder she would pen her next novel on such a topic. The story has a nice flow and balance with lots of believability infused throughout the story. The dialogue is rich and each character assumes a solid role in the part he or she plays as the story unfolds. There is no predictability toward the outcome and as a result, the reader will naturally continue to turn the pages and enjoy the journey from beginning to end. There is just enough fact about the Amish way of life sprinkled throughout the unfolding plot to intrigue a new comer to Ms. Brunstetter's latest addition to her library of titles to entice the reader to perhaps take a step back and read another. Thank you for an enjoyable read Ms. Brunstetter.--Diane Lunsford "Feathered Quill Book Reviews" (5/23/2017 12:00:00 AM) This first book in "Amish Cooking Class" series effectively blends simple storytelling and relevant plotlines dealing with real life issues. Topped with discussion questions and recipes, this charming inspirational Christian romance novel will leave readers savoring the next book.--Nancy Kanafani "Christian Market Magazine" (2/9/2017 12:00:00 AM) This is a light and easy read, like a delicious pie, that will make for a delightful afternoon reading with well-formed characters and sympathetic situations to draw from. Fans of Brunstetter's previous works will eat this one up.--Amy Phelps "The Parkersburg News and Sentinel" (2/5/2017 12:00:00 AM)
