About the Book

Engineering Computations and Modeling in MATLAB®/Simulink®, Second Edition provides a broad overview of The MathWorks’ MATLAB®/Simulink®/GUIDE/App Designer development and modeling environment. This textbook shows how to use these software tools effectively in a variety of engineering applications, including modeling real-world dynamic systems. This book is used as a textbook by undergraduate and graduate students taking both introductory and advanced courses in applied programming, and also as a reference for working professionals using MATLAB®/Simulink®. Since 2002 MathWorks has followed a twice-yearly general release schedule (with an “a” release in the March timeframe and a “b” release in the September timeframe) introducing new functions, features, concepts, and toolboxes. It is impossible to fully describe all the functions of MATLAB®, or keep pace every new software release, in one book. However, being a proficient applied programmer means knowing the basics and understanding a variety of available resources so that, if needed, knowledge in certain areas can be built up fast, or new topics can be quickly incorporated. This book is intended to provide the user with exactly this type of firm grounding in the basics as well as the ability to understand and implement updates and changes going forward.

Table of Contents:

About the Author :
Oleg A. Yakimenko is Distinguished Professor of Systems Engineering/Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Associate Dean of Research at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. He is the author or co-author of over 300 publications about guidance, navigation, and control of unmanned air, surface, and underwater vehicles, satellites, guided weapons, and parachutes, along with high-fidelity modeling and simulation of complex combat systems. He holds two M.S. degrees in aerospace engineering and operations research from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technologies and the Air Force Engineering Academy. He also holds two Ph.D. degrees in these areas. He is a Chair of AIAA’s Aerodynamic Decelerator Systems Technical Committee, Deputy Director of Education for the Western Region, and an Associate Fellow of AIAA.

Review :
"This is a resource for teaching an introductory course in programming and numerical engineering computations as part of an aeronautical and astronautical engineering curricula, says Yakimenko. [...]He has used the material in courses of one quarter, one semester, and even two semesters." - Annotation ©2020 Ringgold Inc. Portland, OR (protoview.com)
