About the Book

The earth has been depopulated by a race of extraterrestrials called the Crem in phase one of their plan. Four Indiana survivors; Alex, Dieter, Ollie and Sparkle, are brought together by a benevolent faction of the Crem, known as the voices to thwart the intentions of their counterparts. Three of the survivors; Dieter, Ollie and Sparkle were brought by the voices from different points within Indiana to meet at Alex's house. Dieter is a 33 year old professional from Indianapolis, Ollie is a 44 year old family man from Warsaw, and Sparkle is a 39 year old postal worker from Santa Clause. Each must overcome obstacles on their individual journey to reach Alex's house and each brings with them something vital to the success of the mission. Alex, a 55 year old health care professional is the oldest of the group. His house becomes the focal point for the battle to come at the adjacent farmer's lot. The fifth member of the group is Mattie who was sent by the voices to orchestrate resistance and stave off human extinction. Mattie appears to be only a young girl but brings certain tools and knowledge to the table, along with a surprise relative to her lineage. The group must ascertain the meaning of the strange 'electronics' in the farm house and barn and which of the structures on the lot is to be the staging area for the launch of the Crem's stage two plan. Stage two is cultivation of the planet as the Crem's food source and the remaining humans are not part of the food chain so they must be eliminated before full scale cultivation can begin. The group discovers that cultivation has already begun on a limited basis at the creek that runs along the farm lot border. The Crem utilize both humanoid and canine drones to thwart the fives efforts to derail stage two. The humanoid drones are ultimately intended to join with machines to be sent at the beginning of stage two as a cyborg unit intended to eliminate humans and provide the seeds for cultivation. There are a series of skirmishes between the two prior to the climactic battle on the farmers lot. During the battle casualties are suffered, but one member of the group saves the day and stage two is derailed, at least temporarily. Survivors pack their bags and head south for the next installment of the saga. Author_Bio: Peter Thomas Brodowski is an American author. 39N-86W is his first novel.
