About the Book

Our lives are lived in virtue and vice and, most often, in the ordinary space between. We stumble and rise back up, ready to take on another day. King explains that "virtue" is the right way to deal with what life places in front of us. Stumble will encourage you to look at your challenges in a new way.

About the Author :
Heather King is the author of the memoirs Parched; Redeemed; Shirt of Flame; Poor Baby; and Stripped: Cancer, Culture and the Cloud of Unknowing. She lives in Los Angeles, speaks nationwide, contributes regularly to Magnificat, and blogs at Heather King: Mystery, Smarts, Laughs.

Review :
"Heather King is the most honest blistering succinct emotionally-naked blunt writer in headlong bruised pursuit of the holiness of Everything That Is that I know, and I am an ink-junkie who reads ravenously looking for writers that tell it real, that say real things with passion and humor and a healthy dose of raw humility.

"Why should you read this book? Because Heather King writes the kind of sizzling tart prose that Flannery O'Connor did. Heather King keeps trying to punch through the mere religiosity of Catholicism, and get down to the wild illogical unreasonable nonsensical furious genius of it, like Andre Dubus did. Heather King, like J.F. Powers and Ron Hansen and Alice McDermott, hands you bruised people trying with all their motley might to listen to the revolutionary message of the Christ and live by its awful implications." -- Brian Doyle, from the Foreword

"Holy smokes, but Heather King's spiritual writing is so good, so crazy, so normal, so convicting, so forgiving, so funny and so brilliantly, brutally, honest that I was making notes before I turned the first page of her Introduction." -- Elizabeth Scalia, Patheos blogger and author, Strange Gods: Unmasking the Idols in Everyday Life

"Let's face it, everyday holiness is a struggle. Yet Heather King shows us, with her incredible essays, the ways to truly own our holiness, no matter how hard the struggle we face." -- Bonnie Rodgers, the CatholicTV Network

"Heather King's visceral writing makes God very real, moving you to pray and to reach out to others in need." -- Fr. Peter John Cameron, O.P., editor-in-chief, Magnificat

"Let the reader be prepared--this book is conversion inducing, demonstrating how in the real, raw circumstances of life, that though all of us will stumble, we need not despair, for there is in each of our falls a divine grace that is waiting and willing to raise us up." -- Fr. Steve Grunow, CEO, Word on Fire
