About the Book

Higher Order Numerical Solution Techniques in Electromagnetics takes a different approach to computational electromagnetics and looks at it from the viewpoint of vector fields and vector currents. It gives a more detailed treatment of vector basis function than is currently available in other books. It also describes the approximation of vector quantities by vector basis functions, explores the error in that representation, and considers various other aspects of the vector approximation problem. This unique guide is the perfect reference guide for those who need to understand and use numerical techniques for electromagnetic fields.

Table of Contents:
Chapter 1: Interpolation, Approximation, and Error in One Dimension Chapter 2: Scalar Interpolation in Two and Three Dimensions Chapter 3: Representation of Vector Fields in Two and Three Dimensions Using Low Degree Polynomials Chapter 4: Interpolatory Vector Bases of Arbitrary Order Chapter 5: Hierarchical Bases Chapter 6: The Numerical Solution of Integral and Differential Equations Chapter 7: An Introduction to High Order Bases for Singular Fields

About the Author :
Roberto D. Graglia is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Polytechnic of Turin, Italy. His interests include numerical methods for highand low-frequency electromagnetics, theoretical and computational aspects of scattering and interactions with complex media, waveguides, antennas, electromagnetic compatibility, and low frequency phenomena. Andrew F. Peterson is a Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. His interests include electromagnetic field theory and computational electromagnetics, with emphasis on the development of computational techniques for electromagnetic scattering, antennas, microwave devices, and electronic packaging applications.

Review :
'Higher-Order Techniques in Computational Electromagnetics caters to the needs of serious researchers, programmers, and scientists in the field of computational electromagnetics (CEM). The authors are Prof. Roberto D. Graglia of the Politecnico di Torino in Italy and Prof. Andrew F. Peterson of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, who are both top-notch experts on this subject. This is the fifth title in the Mario Boella Series on Electromagnetism, published by a collaboration between the Institution of Engineering and Technology and SciTech Publishing. The series editor is Prof. Piergiorgio (George) L.E. Uslenghi, who contributed a foreword to the book. With almost 400 pages of encyclopedic information, this is a full-size book containing a lot of rigorous and useful information - it's not bedtime reading! It is a good reference book and will be kept on a conveniently accessible shelf of every active CEM researcher's bookcase.'
