About the Book

Chevy’s Corvette is without question one of the most recognized sports cars in the world. Since its introduction at GM’s Motorama, Corvettes have been favorites for fans and drivers in a wide variety of racing venues, including endurance events, hillclimbs, Trans-Am, drag racing, and GT Racing. For six decades, Corvettes have battled and defeated some of the the biggest names in the sports car world—Ferrari, Porsche, Cobra, Jaguar—at storied road courses like Le Mans, Daytona, the Nürburgring, Sebring, and Laguna Seca. Beginning with the Real McCoy, a Zora Arkus-Duntov special raced at Sebring in 1956, this book draws on the history of factory-sponsored and private racing efforts, chronicling the history of the various Vettes that have been put to the test as racing machines. Noted automotive writer and renowned artist David Kimble delves deep into Vette’s on-track history to provide the most thorough Corvette racing history ever published. Corvette Racing is illustrated with rare images from GM’s media and design archives and complemented by Kimble’s own stunning cutaway artwork. For Corvette and racing fans, this book is the definitive word on Corvette’s nearly 60 years of competition.

“It’s a story that’s been told before, but this very thorough effort adds much new information, presented in a beautifully produced and designed package. Loaded with excellent photography and author David Kimble’s famous cutaway illustrations, the chronological account deftly weaves production model details into the competition history- engineers, designers, drivers, tracks and races all part of this pleasurable read. Both ‘Vette lovers and motorsport enthusiasts will find this book worthy of a special place in their library.” - Vintage Motorsport Magazine “...this very thorough effort adds much new information, presented in a beautifully produced and designed package. From the 1953 first generation to the brand new Stingray, for 60 years Chevrolet's iconic sports car has brought gearheads the world over to their knees. (Let's just say we cried when Walter destroyed one in The Big Lebowski.) Now, even if your daily ride is a '74 Gremlin, you can enjoy the power, beauty, and mechanical sexiness of the 'Vette thanks to a new coffee table book called Corvette: The Complete Competition History from Sebring to Le Mans by automotive writer David Kimble. Pictured in racing venues from endurance events and hillclimbs to drag strips and GT races over all six decades of its existence, the Corvette has never looked better. Check out some of the best shots below, then find some room for the book next to your collection of remotes." - MAXIM.com
