About the Author :
Matthew Hussey : Emeritus Professor, Director of Faculty of Science of Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland (1994-2007), Head of Department of Physics (1983-1994). B.E. (National University of Ireland, Dublin), M.Sc. and Ph.D. (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia) in 1963, 1967 and 1970 respectively. Main research and publication areas (over twenty books published and over 200 book chapters, peer-reviewed papers and conference proceedings): medical physics and bio-engineering, theory of ultrasound, ultrasound imaging and image analysis, theory of electrocardiography, science of biomaterials (dental, optometric and others), textbooks and other science publications in Irish language, higher education policies and procedures, including quality assurance, research development and links with industry. Bing Wu : Head of the Computer Science Department at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Ireland. BSc and MSc in China, PhD from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom in 1996. Worked in the Department of Computer Science, Trinity College Dublin (1996-1998) and joined DIT in 1998. Research interests include knowledge representation and management, system engineering and re-engineering, and application of advanced computing techniques to real-world situations, such as healthcare informatics and bio-informatics, as well as industry-oriented software education. Served vice-chair of the project steering committee and general project manager for the EMERSION project, a 3-year EU Asia-Link funded project which was completed in 2006. Xiaofei Xu : Professor and Dean of School of Software in Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), one of Top-Nine Universities in China. B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from HIT. Research interests include enterprise computing, interoperability, modelling, resource planning and supply chain management systems, service computing and service engineering, databases and data mining, knowledge management, software engineering, and others. Leader of more than thirty Chinese national research and international co-operation projects. Author or co-author of over 300 refereed papers, four academic books and on editorial boards of nine academic journals. A member of the Expert Group of Computer Science and Technology in the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council of China, a standing member of the Council of China Computer Federation, vice-chairman of the Council of the China ERP Technology Association and was a member of the Expert Committee of Chinese National High-Tech R&D Program on Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems (1994-2004).
