About the Author :
David A. Strobhar, P.E., Chief Human Factors Engineer and CEO of Beville Engineering, Dayton, Ohio, is an industry expert in operator performance, including alarm and display system design, staffing, and plant modernizations. He began his distinguished career by establishing the human factors department at GPU Nuclear—one year after their Three Mile Island Nuclear plant had suffered the worst U.S. nuclearaccident. In the 30 years since founding Beville Engineering, his clients have included such household names as Shell, BP, Conoco Phillips, and Chevron. He has been called the father of alarm management and wasco-editor of the rationalization clause of ISA18.2, Alarm Managementfor the Process Industries. In 2007, he helped found the Center for Operator Performance, a collaboration of industry and academia. He serveson the Engineering Advisory Board for Wright State University.
