About the Book

There is a crisis in church leadership today. Because of widespread scandals, significant power struggles within denominations and local churches, and self-serving clergy and laity, society has lost confidence in the Church as a moral voice. What is the solution? The Cross and the Towel provides an ancient prophetic voice in overcoming the sins within the church. It is a guidebook for pastors and church leaders who have a sincere desire to achieve God's true mission in the world. About the Author TONY BARON holds a double doctorate in psychology and theology and currently serves as president of Servant Leadership Institute at Datron World Communications, Inc., headquartered in Vista, California. An ordained Anglican priest and canon within the Anglican Mission in the Americas, Dr. Baron teaches leadership, pastoral ministry, and Anglican studies at Azusa Pacific University School of Theology. A past regional director within the Order of St. Luke Healing Ministry, Dr. Baron is board certified in forensic medicine, is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychological Specialties, and consults with leaders around the world on how to live for the sake of others. He is also the author of The Art of Servant Leadership: Designing Your Organization for the Sake of Others.

Review :
"As a gifted theologian and a perceptive clinician, Tony Baron skillfully addresses the crisis facing contemporary church leadership while offering sound and practical steps toward leadership based on the kingdom principles of Jesus. This book is mandatory for any Christ follower who is ready to trade the bankrupt tools of the sword and the shield for effective leadership tools that are designed by God for His purposes, the cross and the towel." -- KIRSTEN GARDNER, Teaching Pastor, The Way Christian Fellowship "Baron is convicting, challenging, and Holy Spirit- inspiring! This is a must read for the Christian leader who truly desires to serve God rather than ego, Christian political correctness, or selfish ambition in their ministry." -- FOLEY BEACH, Bishop, Diocese of the South "Revitalizing! Baron prods us to come to our senses about Kingdom leadership. Among a myriad quantity of self-help manuals he yanks us back to first things." --FRANK LYONS, Anglican Bishop of Bolivia "With depth of professional and pastoral experience, Tony Baron exhorts leaders toward a model of leadership rooted in discipleship to Jesus. "The Cross and the Towel" is a refreshing alternative to much of the power-based business practices of church leadership found today. This ancient approach to leadership is as relevant today as ever. I highly recommend it!" -- KEITH MATTHEWS, Chair and Professor of the Ministry Department, Graduate School of Theology, Azusa Pacific University
