About the Author :
A motivating speaker who is known for his clarity, humor, and use of illustration, Michael Cavanaugh has traveled extensively in the U.S. and overseas. Due to his broad leadership experience and heart to equip church leaders, Mike finds himself increasingly invited to speak at pastors' events and leadership conferences. Mike recently completed twenty years as the pastor of Elim Gospel Church, a congregation of almost one thousand, located in upstate Lima, New York. He has appeared on The 700 Club and the Trinity Broadcasting Network. He has also been a frequent guest lecturer at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, and has spoken at several Christian festivals, including Creation, Fishnet, and Kingdom Bound. Mike is the founder of B.A.S.I.C. (Brothers and Sisters in Christ), a local church-based college ministry, and Mobilized to Serve (M.T.S.), a nationwide single adult ministry. B.A.S.I.C. was established in 1980 to aid local churches in reaching out to college campuses in their area. M.T.S. was formed in 1981 to "equip and mobilize singles for service in the body of Christ." Since then, more than fifty thousand single adults in both the U.S. and Canada--including the divorced, the widowed, and single parents--have attended its conferences and singles days. Mike has served as instructor of evangelism and preaching at Elim Bible Institute (EBI) and is currently on the EBI Board of Directors. He is vice president of Elim Fellowship, an association of 850 pastors, ministers, missionaries, and one hundred affiliated churches. A graduate of EBI and Roberts Wesleyan College, Mike is continuing his studies in the Doctor of Ministry program at Bakke Graduate School in Seattle, Washington. He and his wife, Terri, reside in Lima, New York, and have three adult children. To schedule Mike Cavanaugh to speak at your church or singles group, e-mail him at mpcpastor@aol.com.

Review :
"I know of no one who speaks or writes with more authority and impact to the young generation than Michael Cavanaugh. His ministry has had a profound impact on my own life." --Derek Joseph Levendusky, Lead singer, Isaiah Six "It is not easy to be single in a secular culture that affirms lifestyles and choices that are wholly inconsistent with traditional Christian values. This book is a great read and a valuable guide for any single who would navigate those dangerous waters to live his or her life in the fullness of the blessing of Christ. Our European Betel communities and churches have enjoyed and been edified by Mike's wisdom and wit. We have found him to be one of the most effective contemporary communicators who speaks to youths and single adults today. Anyone who would understand the single's heart should read The Power and Purpose of Singleness." --Elliott Tepper, Senior Pastor, Iglesia Betel of Madrid, President of Betel International, Field Leader of WEC-Betel Transnational "I "When I heard Mike speak about undivided devotion, my whole attitude was transformed. His message spoke to the core of my need and answered the critical questions about my heart that I had been unable to ask. I needed to rededicate myself completely to Jesus." --Nancy "Honeytree" Miller, recording artist, composed the song "Single Heart", after hearing Cavanaugh speak Mike Cavanaugh has spoken at Fishnet festivals on a number of occasions and has always brought an inspiring word from God. He is a passionate speaker, an excellent communicator, and a joy to work with. His passion for the spiritual needs of singles is keenly sensed when he speaks. --Larry D. Andes, President, Fishnet Ministries, Inc. No message or person I know has had a deeper and more long-lasting impact on single adults than this book and Mike Cavanaugh. From his life, integrity, and long experience in helping people, Mike has a refreshing and unique way of inspiring people to a life of fulfillment, purpose, and selfless service. --Dean Sherman, International Dean College of Christian Ministries, University of the Nations The hand of God is on Mike Cavanaugh to help the Church reach and touch what many believe to be the most dynamic group sharing today's culture: the singles population. --Dr. Jack Hayford, President International Church of the Foursquare Gospel This is a remarkable book that will help set you free to serve God. Michael has been used of the Lord to mobilize thousands of single adults to change the world for Jesus. I have seen the fruit of his ministry firsthand at our festivals, his church, and even in China. His wisdom and biblical insights are going to encourage and bless you. --Rev. Dr. Harry L. Thomas, Jr., Cofounder, Director of Creation Festivals
