About the Book

Across the world, people like you are rising up to fight poverty, oppression, and injustice-not just professionals, but bloggers, musicians, entrepreneurs, artists, homemakers, and advocates. People who refuse to accept the world as it is, who dare to believe change is possible. But we face a crisis of vision. We sense what needs to be done, but often we don't know how to do it. Without a better blueprint for doing good well, our moment in history will slip away. Stephan Bauman, president of one of the largest relief organizations in the world, believes true change begins in the hearts and actions of ordinary people. In Possible, he presents clear and biblical thinking, powerful stories, and practical tools for sustainably impacting our workplaces, neighborhoods, villages, and cities. Possible is an eloquent and personal call to reconsider what it means to change ourselves so that we can change the world.

About the Author :
Stephan Bauman is the President and CEO for World Relief where he leads approximately 2,500 staff in 20 nations. Stephan oversees programs in the health, economic, agriculture, and refugee areas. Prior to joining World Relief Rwanda, Stephan served as Director of International Programs for World Hope International, where he oversaw relief and development programs in 25 countries worldwide in the agriculture, education, economic development, anti-trafficking, and health sectors. From 1994 to 2001, Stephan worked for Mercy Ships International as Director of Programs and Training, where he directed medical, water and sanitation, community health, and capacity building programs for over 300 staff on the Anastasis, a hospital ship based in West Africa. Prior to joining Mercy Ships, Stephan worked in the private sector for Anderson & Co where he consulted on mergers and acquisitions, legal matters, treaties, and tax issues for Fortune 500 companies. Stephan is a Certified Public Accountant (since 1990), an ordained minister, and holds a Masters in International Public Policy (Johns Hopkins University), a Masters in Missiology and Intercultural Studies (Wheaton College Graduate School), as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Business (University of Wisconsin).

Review :
"A convincing case for how we can bring genuine change to our suffering world." -- Bill Hybels, Willow Creek Community Church "Stephan Bauman helps us understand that if we want to steward our moment in history, we must turn our thinking upside-down--first to recognize the resilience and creativity of those who suffer, then to thank God for the privilege of coming alongside them as co-creators of the solutions. I love this book!" -- Lynne Hybels, Willow Creek Community Church "This wonderful summons to do justice is a powerful combination of gripping stories, solid theology, and probing challenge. Possible doesn't just call us to change the world; it convinces us that we can do it." -- Ron Sider, author, Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger "As a dreamer, I long for those transformative moments when an old impossibility gets replaced by a new possibility. This book pierced me with joy as it dispelled lies that I'd been led to believe, then revealed just how attainable changing the world might actually be." --Josh Garrels, singer/songwriter, including the critically acclaimed "Love, War, and the Sea in Between" "We can all find resources that tell us why we must make a difference in the world, but Stephan Bauman presents the most compelling blueprint I have read on how to do that. I wish I'd had Possible forty years ago!" -- R. Tim Ziemer, Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy, (ret.) "Like Jesus of Nazareth, Stephan Bauman realizes that in order to change the world, we have to change people's hearts, starting with our own. Anyone who aches over injustice and wonders if real change is actually achievable should read Possible: A Blueprint for Changing How We Change The World." --Tony Hall, former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture; author, Changing the Face of Hunger "Possible is for everyone who wants to move beyond complacency to commitment, from doing little to truly changing the world. Lots of writers tell us that our world is a mess but Stephan Bauman shows us how to fix it." --Leith Anderson, president, National Association of Evangelicals; author, Leadership That Works "After he spent decades on the front lines of justice, we are now able to read about the philosophy, faith and experiences that have led Stephan to believe justice is not merely a goal to strive for, but is indeed possible." -- Micah Bournes, poet
