About the Book

In the pages of this book, you will find the words of the young men, whose passion for teaching is finally connecting with America's African American youth. Their stories tell it all. Young men who have teetered on tragedy, who have had trauma and disappointment in their lives are inspired to new heights--Call Me MISTER has opened the doors to a great future in which they can give back in remarkable ways.

About the Author :
Roy Jones, Ed.D. & Aretta Jenkins, B.A. Dr. Roy Jones of Clemson University is Executive Director of the Eugene T. Moore School of Education's Call Me MISTER program and Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. Aretta Jenkins, a Clemson University graduate, has been an upstate South Carolina oral historian for years. She produced a widely distributed documentary about the Call Me MISTER program depicting the lives of several of the young men.

Review :
Call Me MISTER has taught me that one of the ways that I'm designed to help people is through teaching. One of the greatest ways to impact the nation is to impact the nation's classrooms. --MISTER Hayward Jean Principal, Mellichamp Elementary School Everybody needs support. You realize that when you get older, the more support you have the better you do in life. And in turn, by getting all that support from the Call Me MISTER program, I'm enabled to give that support to my students. --MISTER David Fair, Teacher, Cherryvale Elementary School One of our epithets, our mottos, is "empowering generations to transform nations," and I believe in that. I believe in empowering people so they are able to see the best inside of themselves. --MISTER Cory Terry, Teacher, Tanglewood Middle School
