About the Book

Hearing remains the only human sense that can be restored if damaged. Thus, cochlear implants and other implantable hearing mechanisms have become more prevalent solutions to modern-day hearing trauma, making it imperative for clinicians to gain expertise on the subject. This text will provide hearing professionals -- who are oftentimes ignorant of the fundamental indications for and benefits of hearing devices -- with the knowledge necessary to wholly understand these implantable mechanisms so that they can incorporate them into their practices.

Review :
U. Ullal, Newcastle on Tyne, UK, The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, (January 2013): "The chapters are indeed concise and well organised, and provide a good outline of information on history, design, candidate selection, imaging and surgical options, in the context of adult and pediatric implants. The book tells you all you need to know about cochlear implants and other implantable devices, in an easy-to-read manner, and brings you "up-to-speed" with today's practice. This text should appeal to students, otolaryngologists, audiologists, hearing therapists, and speech pathologists interested in cochlear implants." Yu-Lan Mary Ying, MD, Louisiana State University, Otolaryngology & Neurotology (July 2013): "Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Hearing Devices is a very organized book that covers the field of cochlear implantation in a complete and logical way...Even for the surgeons who do the surgery, these other chapters provide a nice overview of the programming strategies and remind us of the team approach needed for an optimal implant outcome...It is an easy to read book, yet thorough in its breadth of coverage. Trainees in otolaryngology and audiology, medical students, and those in practice who take care of cochlear implant patients will find this book useful in providing a comprehensive overview of cochlear implants plus understanding of other available innovative implantable devices."
