Un poemario que surge desde el asombro, y revela vuelo imaginativo y una mirada singular sobre el presente. "Sobre un vigilante de nubes," por John J. Junieles: "Rene Arrieta es uno de esos escritores que va por el mundo ejercitando lo que muchos han olvidado: el renovado asombro por nuestro viejo mundo. Aquellos que hemos seguido su trabajo literario desde el periodo americano (Cartagena de Indias, Colombia), hallamos en estos nuevos versos espanoles, la fuerza de aquellas preguntas necesarias que llamaron nuestra atencion. Este nuevo libro se enraiza en dudas y certezas primordiales, en fantasmas memorables, en suenos perturbantes. Nada es gratuito aqui, en esta cosmogonia verbal, en la que todo responde a un orden, es decir, a una necesidad expresiva. Simbolismo, metafisica, surrealidad, coloquialismo: son tantas las cosas que se nos vienen a la mente en la medida que lo leemos. Entonces viene Arrieta y nos recuerda que su pretension es solo dar testimonio de algunas parcelas del mundo, rostros abolidos y fugados del tiempo, que en sus lineas nos contagian de emocion y vitalidad. Como hacer una poesia que parezca un monologo tribal, que al hablar de la pluma nos descubra el viento. Algunos de los poemas de este vigilante de nubes, de este senor del perpetuo asombro, responden a ese tipo de preguntas. Las lineas de Arrieta son fisuras en la pared de nuestro conformismo. Grietas que vienen a romper la uniformidad del pensamiento, invitandonos a la simultaneidad de la percepcion. Su alma tanguera se nos descubre, su mirada circense nos pinta el mundo de colores imprevistos, su corazon de petirrojo entre espinas nos hace amar la rama desde donde cantamos. Sus cicatrices, expuestas en algunos pasajes, le vienen bien, como la cruz a la espalda de aquel nazareno. Rene Arrieta es un artista en la acepcion mas significativa: el que encuentra, el que halla, el que celebra, el que recuerda y atesora por todos nosotros. Y es tambien un buen ser humano, por cuanto comparte con sus lectores esas preguntas, que para algunos son las respuestas que necesitaban para seguir andando."
