About the Author :
Peter Gordon is a fiction writer whose short stories have appeared in a wide range of publications including Ploughshares, The New Yorker, The Yale Review, Glimmer Train, The Missouri Review, The Southern Review, and elsewhere. His work has been anthologized, awarded a Pushcart Prize and cited multiple times on the"100 Other Distinguished Stories" list in the annual The Best American Short Stories series. A graduate of Yale, he owns and operates his own business communications company. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife and two sons.

Review :
A master of "makebelieve story telling" (as he puts it in a story about a self-centered memoirist), Peter Gordon shows astonishing generosity and range. Whether centered on policemen, priests, a Peruvian brother-in-law implicated in revolution, a Peruvian Lieutenant forced to lead remote villagers into a landscape controlled by revolutionaries, a dying father who imagines his son long dead, or a grieving son scattering his father's remains while accompanied by his own retarded 19 year old: each of these deft stories explores the fully imagined, troubled heart. --DeWitt Henry The stories in this collection subtly build with a power and emotionality that catches the reader unawares. Peter Gordon beautifully explores lives that have unraveled or are hanging by that last thread, each character seeking to understand the mysteries of humanity, and the cumulative effect is both wrenching and gratifying. --Don Lee, author of YELLOW and COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
