The Enchanted Coin

The Enchanted Coin by Bob Doerr is a 31,000 word fantasy adventure targeted at Middle Grade readers. Imagine being a fourteen year old again and finding a coin that seems to give off a light of its own. The coin has your name on it, and instructs you to toss it into a fountain next to the Tree of Life. That's what happens in The Enchanted Coin, and what starts my protagonist off on a magical adventure that many young boys and girls would love to have. This book is "G" rated. Fourteen year old Greg Worling's life changed the day he found an eight sided coin along the edge of a pond on his parent's farm. The coin sparkled as though it reflected the sun's light even in the shade. Drawn to it, Greg discovers an inscription on the coin that read, "Greg, drop this coin into the fountain in front of the tree of life." Weeks later, his little sister by his side, Greg tosses the coin into the small fountain and is instantaneously transported to a strange land. Alone and confused, before Greg can get his bearings, a young girl in strange clothing literally falls out of the hillside underbrush and knocks them both to the ground. She tells him that she is being chased by warriors of the Denza tribe who will kill her on sight. Greg hides her from her pursuers and learns that she is Fawn, a princess of the Cheerakoo people. She has a proclamation from the King that will settle a land dispute with another tribe, the Denza. The Denza will stop at nothing to prevent the proclamation from reaching the homelands of the Cheerakoo. What's your next Mouse Gate Adventure

About the Author :
Award winning author Bob Doerr grew up in a military family, graduated from the Air Force Academy, and had a career of his own in the Air Force. Bob specialized in criminal investigations and counterintelligence gaining significant insight to the worlds of crime, espionage, and terrorism. His work brought him into close coordination with the security agencies of many countries and filled his mind with the fascinating plots and characters found in his books today. His education credits include a Masters in International Relations from Creighton University. A full time author with ten published books, Bob was selected by the Military Writers Society of America as its Author of the Year for 2013. The Eric Hoffer Awards awarded No One Else to Kill its 2013 first runner up to the grand prize for commercial fiction. Two of his other books were finalists for the Eric Hoffer Award in earlier contests. Loose Ends Kill won the 2011 Silver medal for Fiction/mystery by the Military Writers Society of America. Another Colorado Kill received the same Silver medal in 2012 and the silver medal for general fiction at the Branson Stars and Flags national book contest in 2012. Bob released an international thriller titled The Attack in May 2014, and more recently, Caffeine Can Kill, his sixth book in the Jim West mystery series. In addition to The Magic of Vex, Bob has written two prior novellas in the enchanted coin series: The Enchanted Coin and The Rescue of Vincent. Bob lives in Garden Ridge, Texas, with Leigh, his wife of 42 years, and Cinco, their ornery cat.

My name is Taylor, The Enchanted Coin is a good book. I really liked it. The Enchanted Coin is really interesting and a fun book to read. --Maddie 14 This title is a good read for all ages. When my son brought the book to me is was suspicious and read the book myself in one night. Couldn't put it down. All six of my kids have read this title and going through other titles by Bob.
