About the Book

"The New York Review of Books" has established itself, in "Esquire"'s words, as "the premiere literary-intellectual magazine in the English language." Keep up-to-date with its 2007 David Levine Calendar, which reproduces many of the past year's best pen-and-ink drawings from the pages of "The New York Review of Books." Each month the calendar displays a different witty, often wicked, drawing from Levine, one of our greatest caricaturists. This handsomely printed wall calendar, with large date blocks for recording notes and appointments, is a monthly treat for everyone who loves literature, politics, and culture.

Review :
Praise for David Levine: "Besides offering us the delight of recognition, his drawings comfort us, in an exacerbated and potentially desperate age, with the sense of a watching presence, an eye informed by an intelligence that has not panicked, a comic art ready to encapsulate the latest apparitions of publicity as well as those historical devils who haunt our unease. Levine is one of America's assets. In a confusing time, he bears witness. In a shoddy time, he does good work. Here he is."--"John Updike ""[The] trademark drawings of David Levine...are so ingrained in our imaginations that we take them for granted..."--"The New York Times ""[David Levine] wields perhaps the sharpest satiric pen today"--The Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame Praise for David Levine: " Besides offering us the delight of recognition, his drawings comfort us, in an exacerbated and potentially desperate age, with the sense of a watching presence, an eye informed by an intelligence that has not panicked, a comic art ready to encapsulate the latest apparitions of publicity as well as those historical devils who haunt our unease.
