Review :
"Dr. Bauermeister brings to this book his more than 25 years of clinical work with families of children with behavior problems, his substantial research in the field of ADHD, and his encyclopedic knowledge of the vast English literature on ADHD. I highly recommend this book to any Spanish-speaking family seeking the most accurate, scientifically based, up-to-date, and useful information on ADHD in children. There simply is no better resource than this one for such families."--Russell A. Barkley, PhD., Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology, University of Massachusetts Medical School "This is a simple book, not a pretentious one, and at the same time it is very complex, varied and profound. It appeals to the reader's sensitivity and sense of humor. The author uses a natural and simple way of expressing ideas and concepts which are usually difficult to explain to parents and teachers. Also, the book presents pertinent and up-to-date information relevant to our culture, which is a great contribution."--Iris Vargas Moll, PhD., School Psychologist "Thanks for the honor bestowed by asking me to read your book. I think it is excellent. Above all, your genuine honesty and sincere desire to reach to the heart of all of those who have, or work on behalf of persons with attention deficit. God bless you!"--Catherine Salva, CHADD Chapter Coordinator, Caguas, P.R. Me parece excelente. Sobre todo su genuina honestidad y deseo sincero de llegar al corazon de todos los que tenemos o trabajamos para las personas con deficit atencional Dios lo bendiga!"--Catherine Salva, Coordinadora, Capitulo CHADD, Caguas, P.R. "Bauermeister has compiled an accessible guide for parents and teachers to the causes and symptoms of this disorder and the available treatments. Most ADHD titles available in Spanish are translations of U.S. material, containing statistics from that country and suggestions that reflect American cultural and social conventions. This work is instead a culturally sensitive guide, as Bauermeister draws from his clinical work with Latinos and identifies typically Hispanic behavior that can cloud diagnosis of this syndrome....Although the text is exhaustive, Bauermeister's language is never technical and the book is filled with helpful graphics, hints, and instructive testimonies about ADHD....Highly recommended for school and public libraries and bookstores."--"Criticas""" "Dr. Bauermeister's book is a Spanish-language summary of the literature previously published in English with emphasis on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of one of the most common mental disorders among children: attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Mental health professionals serving Latino/Hispanic children with ADHD will find this book useful because it provides general guidelines Spanish-speaking parents and teachers could easily apply when assisting these professionals with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of this disorder at home and school settings....this book is an indispensable Spanish-language resource offering essential guidance for mental health professionals, parents, and teachers facing the challenges of children with ADHD. Because clinical examples to illustrate the applicability of topics under discussion emphasize Spanish-speaking families and their children, this book isparticularly recommended for mental health professionals providing clinical services to Latino/Hispanic children with ADHD."--"Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry" "In this book...Dr. Bauermeister presents a succinct and lucid review of ADHD, providing the reader his vision of the implications of this disorder....This is a book that is very thorough and comprehensive....We all owe Dr. Bauermeister a debt of gratitude for the significant and admirable work he has done to improve the welfare of people with ADHD and to help those professionals who wish to nourish themselves with the knowledge and experiences of the author."--"Ciencias de la Conducta (Behavioral Sciences)" "En este libro...el Dr. Bauermeister realiza un recuento sucinto y lucido del TDAH, poniendo asi a la disposicion del lector su vision de lo que implica este trastorno....El libro es uno muy abarcador y completo....Tenemos todos que agradecerle al Dr. Bauermeister la ingente y admirable labor que ha realizado por el bienestar de las personas con TDAH y para con aquellos profesionales que desean nutrirse de los conocimientos y experiencias del autor."--"Ciencias de la Conducta" "Dr. Bauermeister's book is a Spanish-language summary of the literature previously published in English with emphasis on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of one of the most common mental disorders among children: attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
